This Peking rug was plenty soiled and had a substantial tear in the foundation. We were able to patch the tear, and the rug cleaned up spectacularly. The deep blue colors and one-of-a-kind design elements are hallmarks of these hand-knotted Peking rugs from China.

This spectacular rug is estimated to be 125-145 years old and was one of the early rugs imported from Persia (now Iran) in the late 1800’s. It had tears and holes and needed a good wash. We were able to put a fabric backing for support and several donor pieces for the holes in the fields. It turned out beautiful and is ready for the next century!

This particular Chinese tufted rug was initially scheduled for an in-home cleaning. Luckily, the cleaning technician realized an in-plant rug washing would serve this rug better and referred the job to Gentle Genie Rug Care.

This well-worn runner had its fringe tassels caught one too many times in the vacuum cleaner. The decision was made to put an aftermarket fringe on after the rug was cleaned. It gives the rug a new and fresh feel.

This rug had both soiling and pet stain issues. After thorough dusting, a urine removal soak, and the immersion shampoo and wash, this rug looks new. What a beauty!

We recently had the privilege of welcoming an Ariana Ziegler rug to our shop for a thorough wash. It had been improperly stored and developed some slight mildew. I’m glad to report that the rug was restored to its original luster. Ziegler rugs have a rich history dating back to 1882 when a German company based in Great Britain started commissioning rugs crafted by master weavers in Persia (what is now Iran). These days, virtually all of Ariana Ziegler rugs are produced in Pakistan.

This rug had been cleaned at the clients home by a carpet cleaner. Unfortunately, when the rug dried, some of the red dye bled into some neighboring, lighter colored areas of the rug. In this particular case, the issue was color crocking. This happens when the fiber has too much dye on it. This can cause some of the color to come off, even in a dry state. Luckily, a thorough dusting and washing flushed all the excess dye off the fibers, and the rug turned out as good as new.
