Hi folks,
With all of the news going around about Hantavirus, I thought I might be able to help out some.
Rodent f***l in your home or office can be very dangerous, especially to folks with compromised immune deficiency or asthma. Rodents gnawing on wires can also start fires, which is a legit concern.
If you have a mice issue in your home, my first strong suggestion is to reach out to a professional pest control company. There's a reason why mice are rated as the most successful mammal in the world! Let an expert help you and your family.
Inspect your garage for food sources such as grass or vegetable seeds. Make sure to store your trash in metal containers that have secure lids. If your trash is overflowing, get more cans.
Inside your home, the most likely places to find mice is under the broiler pan in your stove, or under the shelf where pans are stores. They are also found under the shelf under the kitchen sink as well. These areas should be inspected and cleaned out, following the guidance below.
If there's no food source, the rodents won't be there. If they are, you need to find what they are eating.
If there are only a few droppings, make a mixture of 1 part bleach, 8 parts water in a spray bottle. While spraying, you MUST wear safety goggles, mask and rubber gloves. The f***l pellets and immediate surrounding area can be sprayed. Let sit for about 5 minutes. WIPE up with a paper towel, do NOT vacuum it up.
If there is a large amount, the problem is out of your control and call in a professional.
Rodenticide is an option, but only as a very last resort. Pets, children and wildlife are at risk if not used correctly. If using rodenticide-FOLLOW THE LABEL. But the label will also tell you to remove food sources.
I strongly urge to to contact a professional. It's potentially too dangerous to your family to do otherwise.
