POST-FLOOD LAUNDRY~ New York City neighbors and beyond who were impacted by flooding: We are so sorry for the pain and heartache!
We are open today (9/2/21) with normal hours. We are here for you and we are ready to help.
Our team is well-equipped to handle flood laundry safely, thanks to our Covid protocols. If you have things to wash post-flood, please bring them to us ASAP.
Bacteria, oil and sewage are known to be found in floodwaters and can cause serious health concerns. Do NOT let wet towels and contaminated items sit.
Sort by color and material ASAP. Wet laundry will potentially bleed color. Put everything that can be washed on high heat in a plastic bag, and lower heat items in another bag. Wash on the highest heat setting possible.
Add a vinegar rinse. White vinegar is effective in killing pathogens found in sewage such as E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria. Dry on high heat, if possible.
Sewage and mud in floodwater needs to be removed not only from laundry, but also from machines. We ran empty Hot Water cycles this morning to flush out all machines. If you have a washer at home or in your building, please consider doing this too before using it post-storm.
Again, please wash towels and anything you used to mop up floodwater ASAP. It's not just rainwater! It's more than that.
