Your water meter does more than track your water use. It can help you spot leaks that might be quietly wasting water at home.
Even small leaks add up: running toilets, dripping faucets, and underground leaks can all contribute to higher bills and hidden water waste.
To check for leaks using your meter:
1) Make sure all the water in and around your home is turned off.
2) Locate and open your water
meter box (often in the sidewalk or parking strip).
3) Read the dial or low-flow indicator. If it's moving when nothing is running, you may have a leak.
4) You can narrow down where the leak is by shutting off your home's main valve and checking the meter again. If your meter shows continuous flow, take steps to find and fix the leak.
