Did you know that Blacklegged (Deer) Ticks exist on a two-year cycle? In the coming spring days as temperatures warm up above freezing, nymph and adult ticks will no longer be dormant and will search for a host.

You can protect yourself and your pets from Lyme disease and other tick-bourne illness by taking preventative measures. The Tick Research Lab of Pennsylvania recommends the following regarding home prevention:

• Spray yard with tick killer during peak tick season (Spring-Fall)
• Treat bedding with permethrin
• Rid yard of any chipmunk, mice, shrew, or groundhog populations as these are known to carry ticks and Lyme disease
