This morning, our BP Viking Express Mart team is doing what we do every day: greeting early customers, brewing coffee and helping people get where they need to go.
Twenty-five years ago, another ordinary Tuesday morning began much the same way.
At 7:46 a.m. here in Reedsburg, the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. At 8:03 a.m., a second plane struck the South Tower. The news spread quickly through workplaces, schools, homes and morning stops like ours. Coworkers shared updates. Radios carried the latest information. People called their families and tried to understand what they were witnessing.
Then, at 8:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.
In just 51 minutes, an ordinary morning became a day our nation would never forget.
Today, at this same hour, the BP Viking Express Mart team pauses with our Reedsburg community to remember every life lost, every family forever changed and every person who responded with extraordinary courage.
We came together then, wherever we happened to be. We come together now to remember, to support one another and to continue showing up for our neighbors.
We will never forget.
