Snow is not always a welcome sight in April, but I do not think there is a single disappointed person seeing this storm roll in.

We are incredibly thankful for the men and women fighting the East Side Wildfire. 🙏

Hoping this much-needed moisture brings some relief and helps in the fight against this fire.

As we enter the second day of the East Side Wildfire, it is becoming increasingly likely that many homes in Red Lodge may be affected by smoke and odor intrusion.

First and foremost, we want to express our sincere gratitude and prayers to all of the firefighters, first responders, and personnel working tirelessly to battle this fire and protect our community. We are also keeping all homeowners, tenants, and evacuated occupants in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We are grateful that Andrew Newman, owner of Newman Restoration & Cleaning has reached out to partner with us and offer the support of his team and equipment. Andrew and his crew were an incredible resource to our community during the flood, and we are thankful to have their help again during this event.

We have already started receiving calls from homeowners and tenants asking what steps they can take right now to help protect their indoor environment. While every situation is different, there are a few simple things that can make a meaningful difference in your home’s air quality during a smoke event:

Replace your HVAC filter with the highest-rated filter your system can safely handle. A MERV 13 filter is commonly recommended if your system is compatible. If you have central air, set it to recirculate if possible. Portable air cleaners can also help reduce fine smoke particles indoors.

Keep windows and doors closed as much as possible to limit smoke entering the home.

If you use a vacuum, make sure it has a true HEPA filter. Vacuums without HEPA filtration can stir fine smoke particles back into the air.

Carpet, upholstery, and soft surfaces can trap smoke particles and odor. Keeping those materials properly cleaned can help improve the indoor environment after exposure.

If you have questions about smoke damage, odor concerns, or what steps make sense for your home or rental, please reach out. We are here to help in any way we can, and we are thankful to stand alongside others in serving the Red Lodge.

Red Lodge has faced difficult times before, from the pandemic to the floods and now another wildfire threat, and each time this community has shown its strength by coming together, helping one another, and standing strong. We have no doubt that same spirit will carry us through again.

Attention Red Lodge Community!

Warmer weather may be on the way, but that doesn’t mean we’re in the clear just yet. After a hard freeze, pipes that have cracked or burst often only reveal leaks once the ice inside them has thawed. Protect your home (and your wallet) by keeping these tips in mind:

Check for leaks – Inspect basements, crawl spaces, and behind walls for signs of dripping or pooling water.

Monitor water pressure – A sudden drop can indicate a leak or rupture in your pipes.

Thaw with caution – If you find frozen pipes, use a space heater or hair dryer to gently warm them. Avoid open flames.

Know your shut-off valve – Familiarize yourself with its location so you can quickly turn off the water if you spot a leak.

Important: Mold can begin to grow in as little as 24–48 hours after water damage, and dealing with mold is both serious and potentially very costly. Getting water and moisture dried as quickly as possible is the best way to prevent a mold issues.

If you experience water damage, Summit Cleaning Services is here to help! Call us at 406-606-2764.

Don’t Let Burst Pipes Take Over This Winter!

When temperatures dip and pipes freeze, you might not realize there’s a problem until they thaw and water damage becomes evident. If you notice any leaks or pooling water, act fast, it only takes a short window of time for mold to begin growing. Mold remediation can be very costly, so getting your home or business dried out quickly is crucial.

Remember: you can’t just “kill” mold and walk away. Dead mold spores can be just as harmful as live ones, and proper removal is essential to protect your property and health. If you’re facing water damage, don’t wait until it’s too late!

Call Summit Cleaning Services at 406-606-2764 for quick response 24/7. Stay safe, stay dry, and let us handle the rest!
