So How Do You Get P*e Out Of Carpet Anyway?

Want a fun fact to gross your friends out? P*e is actually living in the carpet. Pretty gross right? That's why on those humid days you get a whiff of that very unpleasant odor.

That's why we use ultra-violet lights when we pre-inspect the carpet. This helps us to identify locations of pet contamination that may not be visible to the human eye. Before we hit it with hot water, we are going to want to kill it.

There is two types of chemistries we reach for when we want to treat urine, enzymes and oxidizers.

Enzymes work great because they are a "good" bacteria that eats the urine bacteria.

Oxidizers work by attacking the urine at the molecular level with oxygen.

My recommendation for a customer who is looking for something over the counter, go ahead and start with the enzyme treatment. The most important thing with enzymes is they need time to work, called dwell time. Its best to make sure they have at least 30 minutes of dwell time before extraction

Then if you have any yellowing afterwards, this is where oxidizers really shine. Spray your oxidizer and let it work. These dont need to be extracted

Pro-tip, use a blacklight to accelerate the oxidizer for better results

Of course you are going to want to get your carpet professionally treated when possible, because typical household extractors cant get all the urine out of the pad, but this can help buy you some time for that family get together you have been planning
