This is an effluent filter, a cylindrical device installed on the outlet side of the septic tank. This filter aids in the removal of solids from the wastewater before entering your drain field!

Often times you find these filters on conventional systems or Lower Pressure Dosing (LPD) systems.
These filters should be checked and cleaned during every pumping. Or every 3 years at a minimum.

At Willow Springs Excavation & Septic when pumping a system, our technician will evaluate the entire system while on-site performing the pumping to make sure the system is operational.

While pumping a tank a few weeks ago. I informed the customer they have another compartment to their tank that is buried without a riser. Today we installed the second riser, so they can have their tank pumped properly. This is also required by the state to sell your property. All property transfers must have a septic inspection if not on city sewer. Willow Springs Environmental is state certified to perform septic inspections for your property transfer.
