So you've had a deep clean, NOW WHAT!?
Here are some tips and tricks to keeping your home as CLEAN as possible for as LONG as possible in between cleans.
1. Don't wear your shoes in your home.
This is one of the simplest and easiest ways to keep your floors clean. Shoes track in all kinds of grime, including the kind you can't see. Bacteria from the bottoms of your shoes can get tracked everywhere. This is especially important if young children are present in the home. If you don't like being barefoot, slippers are a great alternative.
2. Don't leave your used toilet water sitting.
Simply flush the toilet after use. If you're conserving water and using the toilet multiple times before flushing, that's totally fine! Just remember to flush it down before leaving, and don't leave the toilet seat open. Especially important if you have dogs in your home.
3. De-Clutter Daily
So you've gotten a deep clean and you come home loaded with groceries, mail, jackets, toys, and everything else you've emptied from your car- well now is the time to return everything to its home. Doing this as soon as you come in the door makes it easy because you won't have to do it later when you're exhausted and nothing piles up and up and up.
4. Clean up Spills Quickly
Spaghetti sauce on the floor? Spilled coffee? The kids had a food fight? Wiping those spills up immediately will help keep your finishes fresh, the chance for stains is reduced, and your home will continue to keep it's awesome clean smell. It also reduces slipping and falling.
5. Fan on! Squeegee and/or dry your shower
For your shower, it is important to both turn the fan on (if you have one) to reduce the moisture in the air in your bathroom, cutting down on mold and mildew, and to squeegee and/ or dry the shower down. Many finishes are ruined from never actually drying. Leave the shower door open as well after showering. This tip is most important if you have a glass shower door/enclosure and/ or hard water in your area. If you don't have a fan in the bathroom, open the window.
6. Schedule regular services
Whether or not you purchase regular services from a cleaning company or do them yourself- doesn't matter. You can schedule with yourself in your home to go through and do a clean just as if you were a professional. Clean quickly and methodically- starting with the harder to tackle places like the kitchen and bathrooms- and completing each task before moving on to the next. If you'd rather have a professional do it, schedule what timeframe works for you and get on a regular schedule. Maintenance is key here.
