Study the first picture. See what looks like a giant scratch on the wood? The owner thought his moving company had ruined the floor and he was facing a HUGE expense to have it all sanded.

Look at the round place. We tested for acrylic and there it was: Someone had put layers of “Clean-N-Shine” stuff on the floors.

Now look at the second picture. Study the same area (just this side of the pillar).
The scratch is gone! In fact, look at the whole floor. See how bright and fresh it looks with all that messy “N-Shine” junk gone?

This is a good example of how lovely a wood floor can look when professionally cleaned and burnished. Call for a quote!

Reader, the last time you had your carpets cleaned, were you told “My equipment is SO powerful that we don’t need to vacuum?”

That is rubbish. 85% of all soils can be removed with a good vacuuming. Do you know why the Big Hose guys didn’t? It takes time. That’s it.

Act One Cleaning will take the time to vacuum your carpet until nothing more comes up. Only then will we proceed with the rest of the cleaning. Have a look at this average load, from an average house!

Not all furniture is made as well as this sofa. Stuffed with goose down and upholstered in a cotton blend, it was drooled on by the fattest, most adorable bulldog ever.

Here is the issue: Feather stuffing should not be wetted when cleaning. Natural fiber upholstery must not be cleaned with standard detergents. Why? Because feathers often have fireproofing which can turn the pillow black. Natural fibers can be chemically damaged or turn brown when improperly cleaned.

Study the first picture; see the drool spots? Now the second picture: I unzipped the cover, placed a pad behind the spots and began working them by hand. Knowing what to use and how to use it is crucial to caring for fine furniture.

I’m pleased to report that this afternoon the owner let me know that the couch has dried and looks beautiful.

This was an unusual job. This fine home has a stove backsplash made of fractured granite. The surface is raw and rough, so over time some of the stones absorbed cooking grease and darkened.

On a countertop, we would use a specialty poultice. Because this is a vertical wall, we needed a different approach.

We degreased and used superheated steam to boil the granite clean, then treated with a penetrating sealant. At the time this picture was taken, the sealant was still curing; the stone will even out in tone over the next few days. But look at the improvement!

Note: Lighting is tricky, you should zoom in on the dark stones to see better.
