Case 883: HAVE YOU SEEN ME? Jamaka Simms

Newark, New Jersey
Topeka, Kansas

The Topeka Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 35-year-old Jamaka Simms.

She is described as a black female, 5'3", 130 lbs, with brown shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen on January 29, 2026 at her apartment in Newark, New Jersey.

Jamaka is diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and epilepsy (seizures), making her highly vulnerable.

Her mother, Jacqueline Taylor, originally attempted to file a report in Newark but was told it had to be done in person. Because Taylor lives in Topeka, Kansas, and cannot travel, the report was eventually filed with the Topeka Police Department on March 3, 2024, which entered her into a national database. Newark police still has not filed her as a missing person.

On the day she vanished (January 29), she sent a photo to her sister showing facial injuries, suggesting she may have been the victim of an assault just before her disappearance.

If anyone has any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact the Topeka Police Department at 785-368-9551, Black and Missing Foundation at 877-972-2634, or dial 911.
