Monsoon Tips for Your Pool
Monsoon storms can leave your pool looking messy and overloaded with debris. If your pool service won’t be coming for a few days or you maintain your pool yourself, here are some helpful reminders to keep everything running smoothly:
1. Empty Your Skimmer Baskets
A full skimmer basket can restrict water flow to the pump, making it harder for your system to circulate and filter properly.
2. Check Your Pool Cleaner Basket/Canister
If your cleaner has a basket or canister, make sure it’s emptied. A clogged cleaner won’t operate efficiently.
3. Inspect the Pool Cleaner
If your cleaner seems stuck or not moving, flip it over and check for debris lodged inside.
4. Run the Pump Longer
Extra run time helps filter out all the dirt and fine debris stirred up by the storm.
5. Brush and Skim the Pool
It’s not the most fun task, but brushing and skimming will help move dirt and debris into circulation so your filter can catch it.
6. Shock the Pool
After a storm, give your pool a chlorine shock—whether you use chlorine tablets or a salt system—to help kill off any contaminants.
