🐾 Found fleas in your house or yard? Don't panic and don't just treat the first flea you see.
Here are 3 helpful places to start:
🧺 1. Wash & vacuum indoors.
Wash pet bedding and other washable fabrics your pet frequently uses. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and areas where pets spend time and keep up with it. Fleas have multiple life stages, so this isn't usually a one-and-done cleanup. ⭐️ IMPORTANT: Discard of vacuum contents in exterior trash bin.
🐶 2. Take care of the pet AND their environment.
Talk with your veterinarian about appropriate flea prevention or treatment for your pet. At the same time, pay attention to where your pet sleeps, plays, and spends time around the house and yard.
🌳 3. Look for the places fleas like to hang out.
Fleas tend to do better in protected areas where animals spend time. Think shaded spots, underneath decks or shrubs, pet resting areas, and places visited by rodents or wildlife.
The big takeaway? Finding fleas doesn't mean your house isn't clean. Getting ahead of them means addressing your pet(s), your home, and potentially your yard not just the flea you happened to spot.
