40 YEARS AGO, IT STARTED…
Carl T. Hallbeck had an idea: bring dependable, quality commercial cleaning to the small businesses of Princeton and the surrounding communities.
After working as a custodian for Princeton Public Schools, ISD 477, Carl took a chance. He left the school district after over a decade of service, trusted his experience and work ethic, and built what would become Central Minnesota Custodial Service.
Over the next 40 years, Carl and the CMCS team did a lot more than keep buildings clean. They built relationships, earned trust and became part of the community they served.
Today, Carl has passed the business down to his son, Rob, who continues what his dad started keeping the same quality, integrity and personal service at the center of CMCS.
But passing down the business doesn’t mean Carl disappeared. ❤️
Stop by the office and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find him chatting with Rob, telling stories from years past, offering advice and making sure his experience gets passed along with the business. And you’ll even catch him out cleaning because apparently retirement can get a little boring.
We couldn’t celebrate 40 years without saying thank you, Carl.
Thank you for taking the chance 40 years ago. For building something your family could carry on. For the countless early mornings, late nights, relationships and lessons along the way. And most importantly, for creating a business rooted right here in the community you were born and raised in.

Products change. Equipment changes. The economy changes. But the foundation Carl built hasn’t.
