Some homes are renovated. Others carry a story forward. 🪵🌲🦌
Tucked into the pines outside Prescott, this 784 sq. ft. hunting cabin was built in 1956, during an era when Northern Arizona still carried the unmistakable rhythm of the Old West. Prescott was cowboy country, surrounded by ranches, forest roads, rodeo tradition, and the kind of high-country landscape that drew hunters and outdoorsmen into the mountains year after year.
It is easy to imagine what this little cabin may have looked like in those early years. Muddy boots by the door. Hunting gear set down after a long day in the woods. Cold Arizona evenings settling over the pines while everyone gathered around the stone fireplace at the center of the room.
Seventy years later, much of the cabin has changed, but its history was not simply covered up and forgotten.
The current owner took Ponderosa pine trees from the property itself, had them milled, and incorporated that wood into what is now the living room, bringing part of the land quite literally back into the home. It is one of those details that makes the remodel feel less like a replacement of the past and more like a continuation of it.
The home has been thoughtfully remodeled and expanded, giving it a completely new life while still preserving pieces of the original structure. Through all those decades and all that transformation, the stone fireplace remained.
That is what makes these photographs so remarkable.
The first image captures a small 1950s hunting cabin frozen in another era. The second shows the very same space today: brighter, refreshed, expanded, and reimagined, yet still anchored by the fireplace that has been part of the home’s story since the beginning.
Once the remodel and addition were complete, Kiss My Glass Cleaning Service LLC was brought in for a Top to Bottom Deluxe Deep Clean, taking care of the detailed finishing work that comes after construction and renovation.
Our job was to remove the remnants of the project, detail the newly finished surfaces, and help prepare this historic little cabin for its next chapter.
There is something special about walking into a home knowing generations have stood in the same room before you, and even more special when the materials from the property itself are still part of the story.
From a 1956 hunting cabin in the Prescott pines to the beautiful home it has become today, this was one transformation we were honored to put the finishing touch on.
Take a look at the before and after of this original space. The fireplace tells the story, and the pines are now part of it too.
