The Locked Garage Mystery
At 7:15 on a rainy Portland morning, 503 Clutter Busters got a call about an old garage that hadn’t been opened in over 20 years.
The homeowner only said one thing:
“Take everything… except the red trunk.”
When the crew arrived, the garage was packed floor to ceiling—broken furniture, dusty boxes, old tools, and stacks of newspapers. But in the very back sat a small red trunk with three heavy locks.
As they cleared a path, one of the crew members noticed a faded envelope tucked under an old workbench. Written across the front were the words:
“For whoever finds this.”
Inside was a photo of the house from decades ago, a hand-drawn map, and a note that said,
“The real treasure is not in the trunk.”
They followed the map to a loose board behind a shelf. Under it was a small metal tin filled with old family photos, letters, and a wedding ring the homeowner thought had been lost forever.
The red trunk?
It only held rusty holiday decorations.
Sometimes junk removal is more than hauling stuff away.
Sometimes it helps people uncover the memories they thought were gone for good.
