Summer Storms are upon us, URGENT!
To prevent pool Algae, brush your pool walls weekly and SHOCK your pool either once every 7 days, or after heavy bather load or after heavy rain (whichever comes first)!
Shocking your pool is a way of sanitizing the water by adding a high dose of chlorine or other chemicals. It helps to kill bacteria, algae, and other contaminants that can make your pool unsafe or unpleasant to swim in. You should shock your pool regularly, at least once every week, depending on the usage and weather conditions. Some signs that you need to shock your pool are:
The water is cloudy, discolored, or has a strong chlorine smell.
You have had a lot of swimmers in the pool, especially after a party or gathering.
You have experienced heavy rain, storm, or high temperatures that can affect the water balance and chlorine effectiveness.
You are opening your pool for the swimming season or closing it for the winter.
The best time of day to shock your pool is in the evening after the sun is down. This allows the chlorine to work more efficiently without being degraded by the UV rays. You should also avoid swimming in the pool for at least 8 hours after shocking it, or until the chlorine level drops below 5 ppm.
