Tick bites can cause disease. As we head into warmer weather, be tick AWARE! 🕷️☀️
🚫 AVOID tick habitats like wood piles, leaf litter, tall grass, beach grass, stone walls, bushy areas, and where lawns meet the woods.
👖 WEAR light-colored clothing to spot ticks easily. Choose long sleeves, tuck shirts into pants, pants into socks, wear closed-toe shoes, and avoid walking barefoot or in sandals through grass.
🧴 APPLY EPA-approved repellents (like picaridin or DEET) on skin and permethrin on clothing and shoes as directed.
👚 REMOVE clothing when you get home and place items in the dryer on high heat for 10–15 minutes to kill ticks (the washer alone won’t do it).
🔎 EXAMINE yourself and your pets daily. Check carefully behind knees, groin, armpits, ears, belly button, scalp, and other hidden areas.
✅ Stay vigilant and protect yourself, your family, and your pets this tick season!
