I've been blessed to be trusted to serve people and their lawns. After seeing 'bind w**d', I figured I would share information from a trusted expert....Neil Sperry.

Answer: There are several perennial morning glory relatives, and they do fall under the common name of “bind w**d.”

I had it in a bed of Tam groundcover junipers. What worked for me (and might work for you) was to cut pieces of w**d-blocking landscape fabric and then lay them in like shingles beneath the trailing runners. You have to overlap them by 3-4 inches to keep the vines from coming up between them. I put finely ground pine bark mulch on mine to keep them from curling up and also to conceal the fabric. It’s not especially handsome. It took a couple of years to choke the w**d out, but at that point I could pull the roll-type mulch out to tidy things up. It did an excellent job.

Otherwise, you would need to use a broadleafed w**dkiller (containing 2,4-D), but that’s going to involve a sponge paintbrush and a lot of backbreaking painting to keep the herbicide off your juniper.

Patience is going to be required either way.

Simply be safe, cautious and good judgement this weekend. Times are tough, and dreary days can impact our wellness.

For me, this time of year is reflection and making plans for the year. Inside and outside of house. As we change ourselves, sometimes our change can be shown through changes of the home.

Don't feel boxed. There are no lines that we don't create ourselves.

Good evening to a great consumer base. Enjoying being back in my childhood home in Parker Road Estates. Blessed with serving neighbors as neighbors and neighbors as customers.

My mom, Mary, is why we got into this. She and I use to enjoy working in the lawn together. I loved her passion and ethic. Those molded me more than I ever realized. As a homeowner I love lawns. Your lawn is our lawn is not just a line. Acts 20:35 - In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” I am first to admit weakness and imperfection. I'm blessed.

If I serve you to the best then I know I'm serving for a bigger reason.

As you wrap up this crazy year, think about this year and your serving, your gifts and how they were used. Remember you are not defined by your role in daily life. Know you make a difference. Life is tough. We are all human and deserve respect, love and care.

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Per Jesus, the left hand should not know what the right is doing. This way we are humble. It is with gift giving.

The purpose for sharing is because of being in business though and customers that ER Mowing was able to provide $250 in cereal to Minnie's Food Pantry. We called and that is what they needed. They have an Amazon list as well.

We will also be spending the same amount with BIND (Brain Injury of North Dallas). They are located in Plano. As I celebrated (not sure if celebration is right, perhaps acknowledged) my 10 year anniversary of Stroke, they are a great resource for those recovering and may not have insurance. Or insurance ran out and still need help. They too have an Amazon Wish List.

Ultimately, sharing as giving to the community to which we live and serve is the reason we exist. Those who have supported us, we are greatly appreciative and love being on this journey. If not with us, as most aren't...simply provide kind responses on Next Door. Help where you can. We are a community. Happy Thanksgiving.

FYI - I've seen a lot of brown patch for St. Augustine and basically the same for Zoysia. Takes a fungicide treatment. Then in Spring would hit it again.

Zoysia also brown earlier than others and is one of the last to green up. Don't be concerned if your first winter with Zoysia.

Now, just focus on making sure you have your house buttoned up for the winter and begin dreaming of your spring plans. New layouts, new plants, freshen up, and be a new you and new lawn!

Looking at AccuWeather 30 day forecast. Nov 15 - Nov 16 - looks like our true fall weather comes into play and some great rain chances.

Be sure to get your mulch in. Either add an inch to your existing and shoot for at least 2 inches.

Finally - if you have noticed yellow patches going towards brown in your St. Augustine lawns, you are probably dealing with Brown Patch. Just a fungicide treatment. Good news is it doesn't hurt your runners. IF you do have it and treat, then would treat again in Spring. Take care. Many blessings.

Sod Installation - many services can be categorized as Good, Better & Best. Sod...go with Better or Best.
1. How the area is prepped matters.
2. Putting down top soil matters
3. How the sod seems are set up matters
4. Cutting holes for sprinkler heads and drains...matters.
5. Watering - you cannot over water. It needs a lot of attention, which is why xeriscape is a real choice.
6. After several weeks, it doesn't hurt to put a little top soil, sandy loam, peat moss on top to help fill in and keep healthy.
7. Watering...
8. Fertilize
9. Make sure any edges are well watered

Keep in mind that all the rain God has given; no matter how much you believe you water...it is not enough when humid (as moisture pulled out) and wind (dries the soil) and sun (dries the soil) new grass needs more. New plants need more.

As we need living water in word and true liquid form, so too our lawns. Try handwatering...it keeps you at peace and allows you to truly enjoy your lawn.

Many blessings.

I always grapple with which social media platform to use. Ultimately this fits life at home and at work.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 declares, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven".

What prompted me to write this is my sister. She collects watering cans. Some are still functional, and others are rusted with their only purpose to be decorations around her urban oasis. The Bible verse went with this because of…water. April showers bring May flowers right? There is His Living Water and then there is water used every day to live.

The water cans intrigue me. Some still serve as they did off the shelf. Watering seedlings. Watering older plants. Giving and continuing life.

Others are rusted, their ability to hold water no longer. Yet, they have been rediscovered…repurposed. Just because they are not what they once were does not mean they have lost total value. Now they are around to bring forth memories and play a supporting to role.

As we look at our current season, no matter where in North America you are, you have planted or are in the process of planting. Watering. Waiting for the time to sow. Some may use large scale irrigation, and some will use watering cans.

In life and work, the questions to consider are: Are you being watered properly? Are you watering properly? Have you helped with seeds and their new beds for growth?

As we all wear, we all become a used watering can. At some point, we may no longer fully function as our original vessel. We still have value. We can still be used. Repurpose.

I never cease to be amazed at our tomatoes grow. I’m amazed at how water from the sky impacts the growth so much more than from the tap. Even though the tap water is not as nutritional as rain, it is better than nothing. In the wilderness, mana is better than sand. Ultimately, water helps life. Are you watering what needs to be fed?

My sister’s watering cans range in size, shape and tin or copper. Most are grayish. For me, I would want to be a yellow watering can. I want to be a bright spot. I want to shine on those around me. I want to be part of giving life, like the sun. At the end of my usefulness, I hope to still have color and be repurposed in a garden somewhere.

What season are you in? Have you properly sowed? Are you ready to be a watering can.

Life is short. Enjoy the journey.

Just a funny/quirky/odd share.....
My wife and I were walking our dog on one side of street. On the other were 2 rabbits (Sounds like the beginning of a joke but not). We headed up the street. The rabbits went up a house. Then another. Then another. They were following us from across the street.

THEN...they legit crossed to the side of the street we were on.

I harkened back to Monty Python and Holy Grail with the Killer Rabbits! HA.

They looked around - probably laughed at punking us and our dog - then hopped back to the other side of street. Perhaps a Tik Tok dare for rabbits?

Have a blessed week.

Just sharing what a blessing it is to do what we do. Mowing edging, mulching, shrubs and taking care of lawns in general. Wow. God is good. Thank you for our great customers.

Working in our own lawn to grow shade, drought and cold tolerant plants! Planting tomatoes, peppers, herbs, lavender and watching roses bud then bloom.life is good.

I know dark times. This is much better. Enjoy
Thanks yall
