It all started with a porch swing and a song. August of 2017, I had recently found myself to be a single mother and going through a divorce. I had moved into my sister's house and was outside one evening on the porch swing listening to music and wondering what I was going to do. I had been a receptionist at a salon for the past 9 years and knew that it wasn't going to be enough to make ends meet. I also knew that I didn't have the time to go back to school and obtain new skills. I needed something I could jump right into. As I sat there on the swing, Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love came on the radio...this happens to be one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. As I was singing along, the light bulb in my head turned on. I had been cleaning the salon for my boss on Monday's, while cleaning doesn't require great skill, it does require attention to detail. Which is something I was already good at. So the wheels are turning and I'm thinking, ok, I'm gonna start my own cleaning business, I can do this. I need a name, something that is catchy and will grab peoples attention, (When I think of cleaning I think of bubbles...thanks Cinderella lol) Boom! Light bulb turns on again...Whole Lotta Suds! Wow I thought, that's a clever name. I immediately Googled to make sure no company had that name...Bingo, nobody did, it was mine for the taking. So I'm getting really excited about this idea, I'm thinking ok, I need to do something that will separate me from the competition, make me stand out. I knew immediately that I wanted to use natural, environmental friendly products. I have not had great experiences with your regular store bought cleaners....I'll share that story with you another time. So it just so happens that a year ago I discovered essential oils, I had been using them as part of my skin care routine. A woman that came to the salon was talking about how she had been using them for her health issues and the company she got them from. We talked while she checked out and she gave me some useful resources on why you shouldn't just use any essential oil and its best to research the company you get them from. We exchanged numbers and she told me to feel free to call her with any questions. Ok, fast forward back to the porch swing. The idea of using essential oils in cleaning products really peaked my interest, I had never heard of a cleaning company that used them and how awesome would it be to come home to such an inviting scent that the oils leave behind, instead of that harsh chemical smell that most cleaners leave behind that make you want to run for the nearest door. Nature has inspired lots of scents in cleaning products. So why not use the purest form of that scent? So I had the base of my idea, the name and the products. Now I just needed the clientele. I will be honest in telling you this, it was not an easy sell at first. Most people relate that harsh chemical smell to a clean home and yes, I know, some of you love that smell. I never have, it actually made me dread cleaning day. Yes it does kill germs and bacteria, but it's also causing harm to yourself, your family and even your pets. There are studies out there that link headaches and respiratory problems to the harsh chemicals in cleaning products. I want to put a new twist on cleaning, one that is safe for all parties involved, environmentally friendly and smells fantastic! So with that being said, this is my story of how Whole Lotta Suds came to fruition. I invite you all to come along on this journey with me and embrace the new smell of clean!
