Graduating from Kutztown University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Biology, Rachel moved to Washington D.C. where she entered the workforce to support environmental conservation work. She later moved to New Mexico where she worked tirelessly to support nonprofit organizations identify and pursue grant funding and sound organizational strategies to increase impact.
For years, Rachel led a team of 50 employees serving at-risk communities on the Navajo Nation, running a nonprofit organization with an annual budget of four million dollars. Rachel helped raise over $40 million dollars total for this critical mission. Rachel has also committed her personal time to the amelioration of litter and illegal dumping here in Allegheny County. She serves as a Board Member of Allegheny Cleanways, and also as Co-Chair of the Clean Pittsburgh Commission. Rachel leads several volunteer trash pick-up events each year, engaging her many dear friends in the region to get out there and get a little dirty to make things a little cleaner for a long as possible. In October of 2020, Rachel started 412 Clean Teams LLC with the simple mission of helping good people make their lives a little easier. Rachel is responding to a major shift in how families spend their time together. At the time of this writing, Rachel and 4 team members have cleaned 1,800 properties in SW PA.
