We removed a screen that had been left on a dryer vent cover. While screens are often used to keep birds and pests out, it can create problems if the vent isn’t cleaned. Over time, lint builds up on the screen, leading to a blockage. As you can see, this buildup restricts airflow, preventing the dryer from venting properly and resulting in longer drying times.
That’s why we install code-compliant metal dryer vent covers like this one. The flap only opens when the dryer is running, allowing proper airflow, and it stays securely closed (using a magnetic seal) when the dryer is off to keep pests out without trapping lint.
