Although only a very small percentage of the bats that are submitted for rabies testing in the state each year test positive for the rabies virus, there is still a possibility of any bat you may come in contact with to be a carrier of the virus. For this reason we recommend any bat found in the living space of your home be submitted to your local health department for rabies testing to eliminate all concerns of a potential rabies virus transmission. As bat birthing season quickly approaches, we will begin receiving more calls for bats inside of homes. For information regarding rabies virus in wildlife and transmission to humans please visit the website for the cdc or reach out to your local health department. For help with bats or other wildlife residing in your home or business or any other wildlife conflict please reach out to us. (601)910-3006.
