During COVID, I decided to greatly reduce my scorpion hunting activities. That included certain administrative chores. As a result, I forgot to renew my 10 year old domain for
www.thescorpionequalizer.com . So, with no domain, and COVID spreading everywhere, I took some time off.

I am still consulting with families on removing scorpions, but expect to be hunting scorpions again in September of 2025. I also have temporarily moved my domain over to www.thescorpionequalizer.org , but it is having a few issues and might not be active for a month or two.

Due to extreme heat the past 2 summers, I have seen a minor decline in scorpion activity. Scorpions are still there, but when it’s still 105 degrees at 10pm, not as many scorpions will hang out on a wall waiting for a cricket.

2025 has been relatively mild so far, so if this trend continues, anticipate an increase in scorpions being visible in your yard.

Sometimes you don’t need a black light to find a scorpion. Baby scorpions don’t have any exoskeleton and young scorpions have such an underdeveloped exoskeleton they barely glow in the dark and reflect the light off of a black light. So even if they are as small as your little finger nail, if they’re stupid enough to plant themselves on the wall where they’re readily visible, their life expectancy is usually less than 30 seconds at my house before I squish them.

The Fourth of July is a good time to go out scorpion hunting in your yard if you haven’t started already this year. Monsoon rains will make it more likely for scorpions to give birth in the upcoming weeks, so why not get a head-start on reducing the scorpion population and reduce their numbers in your yard before they can get into your home!

Today was the first day to officially hit 100° in Phoenix Arizona. This means that scorpions will be out pretty much every night for the next five months. This is no different than any other year because I normally tell people to start hunting scorpions around April 15, whether the temperatures are at 100° or not.

So, what is different about this year and why should you be out EVERY night searching for scorpions on your property?

There happens to be a pandemic in 2020 and you don’t want to catch the coronavirus. Getting stung by a scorpion might require you to go to a hospital which could mean waiting hours before you get seen. It’s probably not a good idea to be hanging around and breathing the air of sick people for an hour or two waiting for doctors to relieve your scorpion sting pain.

Get outside and hunt down all scorpions in your yard to prevent them from getting inside and harming your family.
