NO! You do NOT have to clean for your cleaners!
Here are some things you can do instead.🧽
1. Clear excess clutter from floors and surfaces!
Having clutter is normal! You LIVE in your house. Picking up the random things left on the kitchen table, or the kids toys from last night allows cleaners to come in and do their jobs without the guessing game. It also means no 9pm phone calls of "Hey did you see this stuffed animal?" or " Hey, what did you do with the stack of papers on the kitchen counter?".
2. Secure all pets
Pet hair is everywhere. I know! I have pets myself. It's in your couch, on the beds, and sometimes you find it in your coffee. It's okay, I won't tell anyone. Our job is to remove that pet hair the best we can, and that is difficult to do when they are actively shedding in the kitchen or trying to eat the couch while we are vacuuming it. Plus, I am just as friendly as your puppy, and a 5 hour service has turned into 8 because they asked for belly rubs and who can say no to that.
3. Store any valuables or sentimental items
I try my absolute best to be careful and kind to everything in someone's home, but accidents do happen. Instead of trying to rectify situations, find misplaced earrings, or search for weeks for the exact match of that seashell you got on vacation when you were 13, it's best to put things that are extra important to you away in your top drawer or jewelry box to prevent accidents from occurring in the first place.
Keeping in mind that cleaners do not live in or know the nuances of your home and family when preparing for their arrival helps everyone meet the expectations set and allows for the cleanest and most germ free home possible.
