You know what's wild?
The first Memorial Day parades weren't organized by politicians.
They were organized by freed Black Americans in Charleston, South Carolina in 1865.
They walked onto a racetrack that had been used as a prison camp for Union soldiers.
They cleaned it up.
They gave it dignity.
They honored the men who died there.
That's it. That's the origin.
Ordinary people. Showing up. Doing the hard work of honoring what mattered.
We think about that a lot at SOS.
Every cleanout we do, someone is moving on from something heavy.
A loss. A transition. A chapter they're finally ready to close.
We show up. We do the hard part. We give the space dignity again.
Today we're not doing any of that.
Today we just say thank you.
To every soldier who gave everything so the rest of us could keep living, keep building, keep moving forward.
Rest easy. We've got it from here. 🇺🇸
