Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, the Old Dominion University instructor who was fatally shot by 36-year-old Mohamed Bailor Jalloh inside his classroom, was a decorated professor of military science and a department chair at the university's ROTC program. Shah joined the Army in 2003, which included active service, and was deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Shah was in the middle of teaching an ROTC course Thursday morning when Jalloh, a former Virginia National Guardsman who had served several years in federal prison for trying to support the terror group ISIS, stormed into the classroom and opened fire. According to FBI officials, ROTC students subdued and killed Jalloh while responding to the shooting. https://cbsn.ws/4dkaCpI

A farmhouse clean, elevated 🤍
Soft light, warm textures, and a sense of calm in every room.
We carefully refreshed this home from top to bottom—polished surfaces, serene kitchens and baths, and thoughtful details that let the farmhouse charm shine without feeling overdone. The result is a space that feels welcoming, refined, and effortlessly cozy.
Clean should feel this good!

Anderson County proudly recognizes and thanks all law enforcement officers across the county for their unwavering dedication to public service. Whether serving in local, state, or federal agencies, these brave men and women tirelessly answer the call to protect and serve their communities. We are deeply grateful for your service.🖤💙

Each year, we will call our nation’s citizens to action in support of law enforcement. Those citizens who appreciate law enforcement and are discouraged about the negative attention being given to law enforcement are encouraged to take time on January 9th to show their support. partnering organizations in support of law enforcement officers nationwide will promote National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.). In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all. Most importantly, if you see a police officer, thank a police officer.

Anderson County is partnering with a local bank to help support several area food banks during the month of November. With cold weather and many local food banks already operating with low supply, we thought the month of Thanksgiving would be the perfect opportunity to support local organizations who serve.

From now until November 30th, we will accept donations of nonperishable goods to stock the shelves of local food banks. Together, we can make the holidays happier for the families in our community that need the most help.

Local organizations that we will divide the donations collected to are: Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Good Neighbor Cupboard, HOPE Missions, and The LOT Project.

Items needed the most:
• Canned foods like fruit, vegetables, or soup
• Shelf-stable dry goods like cereal, oatmeal, or grits
• Protein-rich foods like beans, canned tuna, or peanut butter
• Healthy beverages like juice or water
• Other dry or canned goods

Anderson County Museum serve as a collection point for the community, should anyone wish to donate there. The museum provides easy access and a historical tour of Anderson County.

Giving Back and Rooted in Community

This week, Rooted Cleaning donated to Good Neighbor Cupboard to help support our Anderson County neighbors face food insecurity during this critical time.

THE CRISIS IN SOUTH CAROLINA:

📊560,000 South Carolinians rely on SNAP benefits - half are children
💰$104 Million in monthly food assistance is at risk
📈Food Pantries in South Carolina have seen demand surge 40 - 67% in recent weeks
🥫More than 900 food pantries across the state of SC receive NO STATE FUNDING

VETERANS AND MILITARY:

🇺🇸 20,331 SC state veterans depend on SNAP benefits
🎖349, 871 veterans call SC home - 8.4% of our adult population
💙Many of those heros who made sacrifices and served our country are struggling to even put food on the table.

Right here, in Anderson County, SC local pantries like The Good Neighbor Cupboard , AIM, and Anderson Emergency Kitchen, just to name a few, are working tirelessly to meet unprecedented demand. Shelves are drying up, running bare, before the full crisis has even hit! Our community needs us NOW more than ever and so I am challenging you to help.

🇺🇸 Today, we pause to remember 9/11.
24 years later, we still carry the weight of that day—the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the families forever changed.

We honor the resilience, unity, and courage that rose from the tragedy. May we never forget. 🕯️❤️🤍💙
