There was a point where I genuinely considered walking away from this business. I was exhausted, discouraged, and questioning if I should even keep going.

Then I took on a client couple who have no idea how much they changed things for me. From the very beginning, they reminded me why I started this in the first place. Through simple conversations, kindness, encouragement, and just being genuinely good people, they helped give me my purpose back at a time when I really needed it.

That’s why when I talk about appreciating my clients, I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

One of the greatest blessings of starting Brightside Cleaning Service hasn’t just been building a business — it’s been building real relationships. I genuinely look forward to going to work every day. I love hearing life updates, checking in on people, celebrating their wins with them, and being someone they can count on to help make life feel a little lighter.

I never expected this job to become something so personal and meaningful to me, but it has. Success to me isn’t just about staying booked or growing a business. It’s about connection, trust, and being welcomed into people’s homes and lives.

Summer is officially fruit fly season 🍓😩🪰

A lot of people think fruit flies just randomly appear overnight, but they’re usually attracted to moisture, food residue, sugary spills, overripe produce, trash cans, and especially drains. Once they find a place with food and moisture, they stick around and multiply FAST.

A quick DIY trick that really does help is setting out a small bowl of apple cider vinegar with a couple drops of Dawn dish soap. The vinegar attracts the flies, and the Dawn breaks the surface tension so they can’t escape.

I also recently saw a video from Not the Worst Cleaner using the EcoStrong Drain & Fruit Fly Eliminator, and now I’m really curious to try it myself — because treating the drains where they breed seems like such a smart approach!

A few other ways to help prevent fruit flies from taking over:

• Wipe down counters and sinks regularly
• Don’t leave dishes sitting overnight
• Take trash out often
• Store produce properly
• Clean garbage disposals and drains
• Avoid standing water and sticky spills

Sometimes it’s the little cleaning habits that make the biggest difference during the summer months 🌞🙌

Funny how a “day off” somehow turns into the busiest day of the week. 😅

Today’s agenda:
• follow-up calls with potential clients
• paying bills
• returning personal phone calls I’ve been putting off
• catching up on house stuff
• and deep cleaning my teenage twins’ shared room (pray for me 😂)

Running a business while running a household is a full-time job on top of a full-time job, but I’m grateful for all of it. Some days aren’t glamorous — they’re just about keeping everything moving.

Anybody else use their “day off” to catch up on literally everything?

Today’s clean tackled the buildup, dust, vents, fixtures, fan blades, and all the areas that needed some real attention — and the transformation was so worth it. 🙌

But also, can we talk about how sweet this client was? Dogs put up before I arrived, the home picked up and ready for me, Starbucks being delivered as I got there, cash ready, and just genuinely kind and appreciative the entire time. Clients like this make what I do even more rewarding. 🫶

I’m so thankful she loved the results and officially joined my monthly schedule!

✨ PSA for anyone using the new O-Cedar H2prO Flat Mop System — I actually really love mine 🙌🧼
But I’ve definitely noticed the mop heads need a good deep clean every so often to keep them fresh and working their best… and THIS is how I deep clean mine 👇

🫧 Baking Soda + Hydrogen Peroxide

This combo helps:
✔️ Neutralize odors
✔️ Break down grime & buildup
✔️ Freshen microfiber
✔️ Pull out trapped dirt and pet mess
✔️ Bring those mop heads back to life a little

I sprinkle baking soda right onto the mop head, add hydrogen peroxide, let it fizz for about 10–15 minutes, then scrub and rinse well. The difference is SO satisfying. 🙌

Just remember:
🚫 No bleach
🚫 No fabric softener on microfiber
☀️ Always let them dry completely

A clean mop head = cleaner floors. Period. 🧼✨
