🌡️ Cold Weather & Your Septic System in Texas ❄️

While we don’t get much real winter weather in Texas, it’s still important to keep your septic system in mind during the colder months. Here are a few things to consider to avoid system issues:

🚰 Dripping Faucets with Caution: Dripping faucets can help prevent freezing pipes, but be careful! If you drip your faucets too much, you might overload your septic system. To prevent this, consider letting faucets drip only at night when temps are lowest.

🚫 No Antifreeze in the Septic: It might seem like a good idea, but adding antifreeze to your septic system can harm the bacteria that break down waste and cause more issues down the road.

❄️ Freezing Issues: In our area, it’s very rare for conventional septic systems to freeze or break. However, with aerobic systems, the spray lines—typically buried closer to the surface—are more susceptible to freezing. Keep an eye out for any problems.

🚨 Signs of a Backup: If you notice unpleasant odors or standing water in your yard, don’t wait! Contact us right away, and we’ll take care of it for you.
