Let’s talk toilet seats for a minute.

You probably give it zero thought. That’s why you have me.

So let’s break it down:

Wooden seats: porous, holds stains, bacteria, & germs. Hard to clean.
Painted wooden seats: same as wooden seats, but stains are next to impossible to remove. Stains stay, paint comes off. But the stains still linger!
Plush seats: exactly the same as wooden seats. Just no.
Plastic seats: easy to clean. Resists stains. Typically cheaper.

The next time you’re shopping for a toilet seat I hope you think of me! 🤪 And get the plastic one.

Here’s a bit of a breakdown on pricing I saw on another page.

✨ You’re not just paying for time
You’re paying for experience, efficiency, and knowing what works (and what doesn’t).

✨ Level of cleaning matters
Maintenance clean ≠ deep clean ≠ move-out clean
These are completely different jobs.

✨ Condition of the home
Two homes the same size can be priced VERY differently based on buildup, pets, and upkeep. (What types of showers you have is considered too).

✨ What’s included (and what’s not)
Some cleaners include baseboards, inside appliances, etc.
Others charge those as add-ons.

✨ Supplies + tools
Professional products, equipment, laundry, restocking it all adds up.

✨ Time vs flat rate pricing
Some charge hourly
Some (like me) price per job so clients know exactly what to expect

✨ Business costs people don’t think about
Gas, taxes, insurance, wear and tear on tools, unpaid admin time…

If you’re thinking of hiring a house cleaner, please seek a professional. Ask for references. Ask about their supplies. Things in your home can be ruined with the wrong cleaning products. “A cheap housekeeper ain’t good & a good housekeeper ain’t cheap!” 😆

Tips From a Housekeeper:

Did you know the best time to clean windows is in the spring & fall? Actually the perfect day would be cloudy around 60° but it’s Indiana after all, so who knows what I’ll get!

Sun & heat make it next to impossible to clean, streak-free windows. If you can’t wait for the perfect day, morning would be the second best time.

With that being said, it’s fall. Now scheduling windows til it gets cold!
