Vacation homes and condos with high occupancy demand frequent updates and maintenance. This is a great example of how to add a few panels, a simple shelf, heavily reinforced hooks for hanging towels and you have an inexpensively updated bathroom.
The paneling cleans up with a simple wipe down vs. a typical bathroom wall that would need cleaning, spakling, priming, and painting. In a high occupancy status, a vacation rental property should have this type of "protection" on the walls to minimize scuffs, indentions, and holes in the sheetrock. My opinion would be to add this in an entry way hall as well due to guests pulling in luggage and carts resulting in frequent unneccessary expenses for wall repairs or painting.

Love this idea....Perfect for those small rooms with limited space for mounting a T.V. or setting atop of a dresser.
