This post is bittersweet but so close to our hearts right now. I am sharing it because it is a reminder of why we love what we do.
We lost one of our long time clients to a courageous battle with cancer. We later found out that when the time came to decide who to pass her belongings on to, the ONLY item she wanted given to anyone was this pretty little bug to be given to Rob the Bug Guy.
We were touched beyond words and are honored to accept this treasure. After 12 years in this business, we have really seen our clients become friends and family to us. We are humbled.

Rest easy, sweet lady V❤️

We have a new ride!
We had to retire our former work van, lovingly named the Silver Bullet, yesterday. She was a rusty old gal and gave us some good years but the time had come and we now welcome this lovely new-to-us van.
Any ideas for a name for it?

With the slight warming we've had recently, box elders are starting to come inside people's houses.
Ideally, they are treated preventatively from the outside , however, if you are being overrun with them, we do have treatments that can help in the meantime. Please be aware that it's more of a bandaid than a cure, but it can give you some relief if they are too much of a nuisance.

Time to correct some misinformation that's being spread to people.
Someone is telling potential clients that if they have a nest of yellow jackets in their wall, that it'll "die off soon."
The reality of the matter is that eventually they'll die off BUT it takes much, much longer for that to happen when the nest is in your warm, safe wall voids and ceilings. What often happens, and we have had MANY clients who can confirm this, is that the wasps will eat through your wall or ceiling and come into the house with you. Now it's a dangerous situation and the resolution is way more invasive. If we come in, we have to rip out that section of your ceiling and remove the entire nest. Anyone who has had this happen can tell you that it is an invasive and frightening experience, as well as expensive.
This is not fear mongering, it is reality. Even if you use another company, please do not ignore these situations assuming they'll just go away. Early treatment is much less costly in all aspects. Always consult reputable, established and licensed business.

Amanda here. Today I dealt with the most aggressive yellow jacket nest I've ever had in 11 years of doing pest control. The kind of aggression that makes you question your life decisions. This pic was NOT taken from that job because there was no safe way to get one. I was swarmed with wasps and had to walk laps around the yard to get away from them. At one point I thought I may have to walk home. From Lennon to Owosso😆
If not for this trusty bee suit, I could never do this. It may not look cool (ok, it definitely does not look cool) and we may get points and laughs, but it gets us through wasp season and we're eternally grateful. Plus it helps that we have wonderful clients that we love and appreciate keeping safe.

Now that it's July 1st and we're fully into summer, it would be a good idea to periodically inspect your homes for wasp activity. Just take your time and walk around your home, observing particularly where the siding meets the foundation, the soffits, anywhere you see small crevices. If you see wasps flying in and out of that same location, you have a nest.
DO NOT fill the spot in thinking you'll trap them. They'll just chew through the ceiling or wall on the inside of the house.
The sooner you have these areas treated, the easier you'll make it for yourself later in the season when the nests will be much larger and more aggressive.

What happens when mom and dad have been working all day and mom tries to get caught up on paperwork? Vin demands cuddles!
The busy season has officially begun with the nice spring weather and appearance of bugs. If you need help dealing with box elder bugs, stink bugs, Asian Lady beetles, ants, spiders, bees, wasps and whatever else, let us know.

It's stinging insect season and they are often misidentified. Hopefully this will help!

WASPS can be yellow jackets, bald faced hornets or paper wasps.

BEES can be honey bees, bumble bees, carpenter bees, miner bees.

These are just some of the most common insects in our area, there are many species out there.

Wasp season is upon us!
It's time for our yearly reminder to NOT plug up holes that you see yellow jackets going in and out of.
It will only make matters worse for everyone.

Earwigs are here! We've been getting many calls about earwigs making their way into peoples' homes.
Besides a good barrier treatment (we can do that!), what else can you do?

-Use a yellow bug light for your exterior porch light
-Seal and caulk any crevices and openings around windows, siding, doors
-Keep an area of 8-24 inches of bare ground around the foundation of the home as they thrive in moist, wet mulch and landscaping
-Run a dehumidifier in your basement or crawl space to keep it dry and inhospitable to them
