The Yass Prize and STOP Awards Initiative recognizes education organizations that are Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding and Permissionless. Since 2021, the Yass Foundation for Education has awarded more than $60 million in grants, including the prestigious $1 million Yass Prize to transform education.

The mission of Happy Hands is to empower children who are Deaf or hard of hearing to flourish in school and in life. We do this by educating children, nurturing families and building hope. Being named as a contender gives us a chance to share this mission with a national audience.

Area Rug Cleaning Tip!

One thing we always tell customers: the tag doesn’t tell the whole story. Even if a rug is labeled 100% polypropylene, we still perform a fiber and backing test before cleaning.

This rug is a perfect example—the face fibers were polypropylene, but the backing was bound with cotton. We also frequently see cotton and jute backings, and those materials can require a different cleaning approach than synthetic rugs.

Testing first helps us choose the safest method and avoid problems like browning, shrinkage, or damage to the backing.
