Our answer is almost always... no.

Just because two carpets are labeled "100% wool" doesn't mean they'll perform the same.
According to wool expert Lisa Wagner (The Rug Chick), the way a wool carpet is constructed can make the difference between a carpet that lasts 40–70+ years and one that may show excessive wear in just a few years.
Here's a simple guide:
✅ Machine-Woven (Axminster & Wilton) • Requires strong, high-quality wool • Exceptional durability • Used in airports, luxury hotels, and commercial spaces worldwide • A great long-term investment
⚠️ Tufted Wool • Can be excellent—but quality depends entirely on the manufacturer. • Premium brands use better wool and better backings. • Lower-cost versions may wear much sooner.
