You should also know if you put grease down your drains you could be asking for septic trouble, it can clog your pipes and harm your leech field.

Did you know your septic system is home to Helpful Bacteria. Inside a septic tank, millions of beneficial bacteria help break down solids and organic waste. Without these bacteria, solids would accumulate quickly, clogging the system. Some homeowners even add specific bacteria products to keep their system functioning smoothly. Limiting harsh chemicals such as bleach helps these helpful bacteria!

Let’s talk flushable wipes!

Below is the label of a flushable wipe and almost all brands have similar verbiage on the package. The red circled area reads for flushing see back panel, also included is a back panel that gives all the guidelines of if you should or shouldn’t flush them. Notice the annual inspection and pumping if you choose to flush them.

Long story short is it isn’t as easy as they are actually flushable, just be aware of the risks and complications that could occur with these products.

Did you know the leading cause of septic backups is lack of regular maintenance(pumping) and hydraulic overloading dues to leaky fixtures or over water use. The combination of the two allows solids to enter and clog the drainfield.
