Two months ago I sat with you as you left this world. I couldn’t sleep because I wanted to be there for every single moment I still had with you. The days and weeks following, I couldn’t sleep because of the intense grief of losing you. Tonight was different. I couldn’t sleep because of your love for me and the people around you. So many people are going to receive the care and love they so desperately need. Not only did you love me, but the family you left behind picked up the broken pieces and put them back together.
I don’t have permission to mention them by name, but someone Sheila loved very much donated the remaining amount of money needed to secure the space I needed to carry on her legacy.
Flutter Finds will be a community based initiative under The Mother Flutter Collective that will provide free/donation based items to anyone in need. Her family also left all of her belongings to me and those items will be used to help so many people.
This isn’t like any other thrift store though. We will be utilizing donated funds to provide free cleans, repairs, and compassionate care to the people in our community.
This is something I would like to expand across the country and help other communities when the time comes. There are so many amazing people out there donating their time and their own money to provide free cleans to people in need.
I’ve realized that once we leave, they are usually left with massive repairs that we can’t provide. In need of mental health services we are not licensed for. Belongings that had to be removed due to health hazards that they can’t afford to replace.
One dumpster alone can cost $400+ and many of these jobs require several.
I want to build the bridge that meets the needs we sometimes have to leave behind due to cost.
I see so many posts of people upset that their neighbors yards or homes are making the neighborhood look bad. They call code enforcement and make the situation worse on someone already struggling. If you want to make your community more beautiful, it starts with you. With your hands, your time and your compassion. You don’t know what lead them to that place and it could easily be you, it only takes one traumatic event, injury or mental health crisis.
If you or someone you know needs our help please reach out.
If you are familiar with the process of establishing a 501c3 here in Florida and would like to be a part of something amazing, I would love to hear from you.
