She broke barriers as the first Black and Haitian-American woman elected to the Coral Springs City Commission, and she did so with the kind of purpose and servant's heart that defines the best of FAMU. Her commitment to environmental justice, to her community, and to the people she served reflected the excellence we endeavor to cultivate in every student who walks through our doors.

Nancy was not just an alumna. She was a living example of FAMU's promise in action. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, her colleagues on the Coral Springs Commission, and all who loved her. The world needed more of Nancy, and we are lesser for her absence."
