In case you missed it: Provo Canyon (US-189) will be closed this Sunday (April 19) from Charleston to Wallsburg for pavement repairs. The closure will be in place from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You might notice the reopening is a little later in the afternoon than usual. That’s intentional. We wanted to make sure Wasatch High School students could enjoy their prom and get home safely before the canyon closes.

So no, the canyon isn’t closed because of prom, but we did plan the timing with it in mind.

The later reopening may mean some travel delays on Sunday, so please plan ahead, adjust your travel, or consider using I-80 as an alternate route.

And please share this with anyone who might be heading through the canyon.
