Alrighty peeps. For now, the laundry will stay open. I’ll start turning the lights out on the inside, so please do so as well. Any savings on cost will prolong the doors staying open.
I talked to PSP today and as long as the Skill machines are unplugged and inoperable they won’t enforce for a few weeks.
My why: My family is why I opened Jenkies Joint. I LOVED making them breakfast and sending them off to school everyday. It was some of the most rewarding years of my life!
Getting Katie back out of the house and rekindle a friendship from 30 years ago. Getting great quality time with my old babysitter Terry and learning the secrets of baking and always learning about Jesus with her.
Covid got me scared with a dip in business, and I foolishly didn’t take the government handout that a lot of businesses took advantage of…literally. In fact, we ran a program that was partly funded by our great community to feed hungry kids and we continued that program for 3 years until we closed the food side. I also over extended the business by opening a second location that was not a good venture.
I adapted my business, paid my employees well and provided PTO and other benefits that your typical cafe workers do not have with their company’s. We kept going until we couldn’t sell a sandwich and drink at a reasonable price and make profit. Again, we adapted and put in the skill machines and closed the food. Now this source of revenue is gone.
We do appreciate everyone that has brought us business. We weren’t here just to make a buck. The past couple years are not what we envisioned Jenkies to be when we opened, but it changed to survive.
As many of you know, Amanda and I have been separated well over a year and I travel all over the country doing catastrophe claims for State Farm. So I don’t have the availability to get back into the food business. Although, everything is there to start up almost with some minor work and inspections.
While I’m off a few days, we’ll try and get it cleaned up and listed, so be on the lookout. Everything is there for a small cafe and there is endless possibilities with the pickup window for you entrepreneurs out there.
