Finished my last deep clean under clean under my former policy.

02/24/2026

I’m so happy this is my last deep clean under my former policies. These types of cleanings are back breaking, time and labor heavy. I will now break them up into 4 hour increments, charge per room, and raise my prices. This types of cleans are simply not worth it for anymore under my former policies.

Glass stove tops almost never look perfect after cleaning them. They have scratches and a white haze over the burners. This is common and normal. Today I share how I cleaned this glass top stove.

The last few weeks did me in. One job in particular really put the nail in the coffin for me. I needed to make some changes.

1. I am no longer offering $25 off for first time clients. It was a great way to get new clients in the beginning, but now it’s no longer reasonable for me. My services can’t be discounted.

2. I am restructuring how I handle and price deep cleans and move in/out cleans. These jobs are brutal on my body and very time consuming. If a client doesn’t not like my quote then I will wish them well. I know what I need to make to make these cleanings worth it and if a client doesn’t want to pay it - I am perfectly okay not doing the job.

Do you know you need to make some changes too? Tell me about it in the comments!

5 BIG changes I’m making as a solo cleaning business owner in 2026
1. No more $25 off first-time cleans.
This work is physically demanding and detail-heavy. I give my absolute all to every home, and I’m no longer discounting the quality and effort I bring. My pricing reflects real work and real value.
2. I’m breaking deep cleans into 4-hour max sessions.
Deep cleans are intense and I’m a one-woman show. Working 6–8 hours straight isn’t sustainable if I want to protect my body and deliver quality every time. Shorter sessions = better results and longevity for my business.
3. I’m quoting by the room — not guessing anymore.
Every bathroom and kitchen is different. Some bathrooms are $200+ worth of work and that’s okay. When I quote per room, I can accurately price the true time and labor required for a proper deep clean.
4. I’m clearly stating: I am not a budget cleaner.
And that’s okay.
If someone is looking for the cheapest option, I genuinely wish them the best — but it won’t be me. I’m updating my website and communication so we don’t waste each other’s time.
5. I’m sticking to my contract and boundaries.
My people-pleasing habits have been trying to creep back in. But boundaries protect my energy, my clients, and my business. If it’s in my contract, I’m honoring it — no exceptions out of guilt.

Running a solo cleaning business will humble you real fast…
What’s ONE boundary or change you’ve had to make in your business lately?
Or if you’re a client — what do you wish cleaners were more upfront about?

Cleaning checklists protect both the client and the business. Clearly stating what is included in a clients cleaning prevents confusion and frustration.

You guys - I’m finally reaching a breaking point. Deep clean are brutal on my body and crazy time consuming. Starting next week I am shifting my prices up for them and only taking on the ones who accept the quote.
