Today one of the newest members of our team Tyler saved a customers life! Performing a regular lawn service, Tyler went to deliver the bill per our customers instructions and found the gentleman passed out and discolored in his lawn. Tyler was extremely courageous and called EMS services and performed CPR until they arrived. We are extremely proud to have him as a member of our team and appreciate his hard work and dedication.

Brown Patch Fungus is among us! It is a turfgrass disease that is caused by the Rhizoctonia species fungus. The fungus infects the leaf area closest to the soil, eventually killing the leaf. This disease usually begins as small patches that turn yellow and then reddish brown. Patches can expand to several feet in diameter. This disease is most likely observed from November through May when temperatures are below 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Infection is triggered by rainfall, excessive irrigation, or extended periods of high humidity, resulting in the leaves being continuously wet for 48 hours or more. FALL WATERING: With temperatures going up and down, watering amounts should be adjusted based on weather and the appearance of the lawn. Increase watering during periods of drought, when temperatures are in the 80 degree range, the color is poor, or the turf is stressed. Decrease amounts during rainy or cooler periods. Generally, at this time, we suggest watering one or two times per week at 30-45 minutes per zone. A rain gauge should be used to ensure that the system is providing a 3/4’’-1’’ of water per section.

With summer rains and high humidity present, watering amounts should be adjusted based on weather conditions. Lawns retain moisture differently based on soil types. Keep systems off for 4-6 days after heavy rains. Turn on after the first sign of heat stress. Look for curling of blades or the top of leaf blades browning out as signs of stress. Excessive irrigation will cause thinning and death to turf areas. Contact and systemic fungicide treatments are available at an additional charge. Fungus areas may take as long as 90 days to recover.
