The Eastern Lubber Grasshopper, although harmless to humans, poses a significant threat to gardens and crops due to its destructive nature. These grasshoppers often gather in substantial numbers, causing damage to citrus, vegetable crops, and ornamental plants.

While the presence of these nuisance pests may seem overwhelming, rest assured that their population will eventually decrease. We understand the challenges homeowners face when dealing with these invaders and are here to provide expert guidance and support.

Contact Insect IQ today for a thorough pest evaluation and tailored treatment options. Let us help you reclaim your outdoor space from the grips of the Lubber Grasshopper invasion. 813-930-2847

📣 Hello Facebook Friends! 🐾 We've been getting numerous calls about hookworm issues, and we want to share Insect IQ's recommendations. Remember, "Call us for what bugs you!" - Jonathan Simkins, Insect IQ's Entomologist.

🐕🐈 Attention Pet Owners! Taking steps to minimize hookworm infections in your furry friends is crucial. Follow our integrated management program:

💊 Treat your pets with pharmaceutical products recommended by the vet or as prescribed.

🧹 Clean up the area where your pets spend most of their time daily to eliminate f***s, a potential source of recontamination.

🚿 Keep it clean! Antihelminthic drugs may not eliminate all living hookworms immediately. Daily removal of f***s and disinfection will reduce the risk of reinfection.

Let's work together to ensure the well-being of our beloved pets! 🐾❤️

Giant Ground Wasps Maybe Feeding On Cicadas In Your Yard
https://www.insectiq.com/giant-ground-wasps-maybe-feeding-on-cicadas-in-your-yard

Watch out for Giant Ground Wasps. They are bigger than your typical hornet and look like something from the Jarrazic era. They can become aggressive if their breeding area is disturbed and love to hunt in Florida lawns and gardens.

If you are in your yard or garden, look out for burrows. This giant wasp can carve out a 4-foot tunnel with several branches. They will hunt and kill cicadas placing the dead carcasses at the end of the tunnels for their larvae to feed on.

https://www.insectiq.com/giant-ground-wasps-maybe-feeding-on-cicadas-in-your-yard

These giant wasps can grow just under two inches in length, twice the size of a typical wasp. They love sandy soil—specifically, areas not covered in grass or mulch. You will find their burrow entrances around sidewalks, pavers, gravel, or any transitional areas that expose Florida's sandy soil.

Never apply these insecticides yourself. The typical DIY insecticides may not be the best for controlling these giant wasps. The burrow could also be miss identified. Many other Florida critters create tunnels in backyards and gardens.

If you see a strange bug or burrow in your yard, call a professional entomologist for identification and next steps. Insect IQ has two entomologists on staff to give you a free evaluation and help you determine what action (if any) you need to take to control your pest problem.

My lawn is brown and dry! WE CAN HELP!

1) Thriving Lawns in Florida's Drought"
2)David Ketchum's Advice: Optimal Mowing Height for Drought Resilience
3) David Ketchum's Recommendation: Optimal Watering Practices

When it comes to watering your lawn, David Ketchum advises following the right watering practices. In many instances, lawns can withstand prolonged droughts with just one to two days of irrigation per week, as long as 1/2 to 3/4 inches of water is applied each time.
To ensure efficient watering practices, David Ketchum advises irrigating your lawn early in the morning, preferably between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. during the cooler hours of the day. This timing allows the grass blades to dry off quickly as the sun rises. It's important to avoid watering late in the day or at night, as extended periods of wetness can lead to turf diseases.
By following this guidance and watering during the early morning, you can optimize water usage, promote healthy turf, and minimize the risk of turf diseases.
