mneys of all kinds, including gas, wood-burning. While sweeping your system, we ensure that we keep your home free from mess and chimney deposits. We look for any conditions that could prevent peak performance and recommend what is needed for your system to operate as intended. We always recommend the use video inspection equipment to examine hidden parts of the system. In the past, such examination consisted of a flashlight and mirror inspection. Now with closed circuit cameras we can more accurately inspect the interior of your venting system. CERAMIC & CONCRETE FLUE LINER RESURFACING:
We are licensed dealers for “Heat Shield” cerfractory sealant. “Heat Shield” is the only UL listed #2425, and tested repair on the market today. We recommend this product application to fill void spaces between flue liner sections and even cover formally fatal cracks within the liner itself. This repair restores the systems ability to contain the dangers parts of combustion like heat, smoke and carbon monoxide. WATERPROOFING/REPAIR & RESTORATION:
We offer a full range of repairs to chimney systems with evident water entry, big and small—from repairing leaky crowns to waterproofing exteriors and chimney caps. Water damage resulting from a missing chimney caps and damaged crowns is common. We remedy this situation by addressing these points of water entry. CROWN REPAIRS:
Improperly built crowns are a common problem. If yours is cracked or poorly constructed—allowing water penetration —we’ll repair your crown and guaranteed that repair for up to 15 years. CHIMNEY CAP/SPARK ARRESTOR INSTALLATION:
The best way to prevent moisture from rain and snow, animals, leaves, and other debris from entering your chimney is to install a chimney cap. Our high-quality caps carry a variety of warranties from six years to lifetime depending on the level of your investment. REPLACE CHASE TOPS:
Leaky or damaged chase tops are potential hazards on prefabricated metal fireplaces. Water entry left undetected and unresolved can aid in the premature rusting out of the listed fireplace systems. We can eliminate water entry issues at these locations by replacing rusty metal chase tops. DRYER VENT SERVICE:
Reasons For Servicing Your Dryer Venting System:

Reduces energy consumption. When there is no blockage, less stress is put on the appliance. Better Operation. All connections from the dryer to the exterior should be inspected to ensure they’re working properly. After removing the dryer vent from the wall, we use our professional Dryer Cleaning tool with a rotating brush to clear the inside of the tube of all debris. As we do this, we vacuum and blow the lint from the tube, restoring the flow of air through the system. Your dryer will work like it's brand new. Reduces the risk of fire. When the vent is blocked the dryer heats up and the risk for fire is increased. The lint buildup on the inner wall of the vent is flammable and if left behind, raises the risk of fire. Joey Brooks is finishing his service of this Temco, factory-built fireplace system. The required wood grate is not present and are difficult to find as Temco has been out of business for many years.

Required to maintain the UL listing for safety, our documentation points all this out for liability purposes.

In an attempt to salvage the system, the owner has installed a grate that violates the requirements of the system.

I am not “Merlin the fireplace wizard,” predicting disaster, but we are required to caution.

Joey Brooks addresses yet another leaking crown. He will ultimately install the spark arrestor / chimney cap that will address water entry down the otherwise open flue. The product being applied for the crown is Savor Systems “Crown Coat.” This will restore the existing crown’s ability to shed water away from the flue and off the chimney. Evidence of water entry both within and exteriorly are expected to be resolved with this application. Do you have water entry issues?

Remembering today, the more than 2,400 that gave their lives at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. Remembering my friend Roger Cade of Oxnard. Look him up, fascinating stories I couldn’t get enough of, as he survived the attack aboard his submarine. I worked with this hero at Uniforms Etc in Ventura. What a treasure. Did anyone else know Mr. Cade??

Brooks Chimney Sweeping & Hearth Fire Investigations completed an NFPA-211, level II camera inspection on the East End Ojai fireplace system during a the previous resale. The fractured and open gap issues in the flue liner as well as damaged crown and absent spark arrestor were addressed today. “Heat Shield Cerfractory Sealant” and “Crown Coat,” both manufactured by Saver Systems of Richmond, ID were deployed.
