Tactical Pest Solutions Providing East Central Alabama the highest standard in residential and commercial pest control services.

Over twenty-five years of experience in commercial and residential pest control. I began my pest control career in Birmingham, AL at one of the largest commercial pest control companies in the Southeast. I led a team that serviced thousands of businesses each year. Together we successfully controlled some of the South's most common pests and many uncommon ones. I then decided to expand my expertis

e and added Afghanistan to my work history. During my time overseas, I helped provide not only routine pest control, but I also provided very the important control of pest that spread diseases like rabies and Malaria. Service was provided to tens of thousands of US and NATO personnel. I would be my honor to protect your home or business as well.

🐞 They're cute now. Wait until 400 of them move into your living room.

Asian lady beetles are beneficial predators outdoors — but as fall approaches, they begin looking for protected places to spend the winter. Unfortunately, your home looks pretty inviting.

Now is the time to prepare, before the fall migration begins. Tactical Pest Solutions can identify likely entry points and provide targeted preventative treatments to help keep them where they belong: outside.

More is not better. Better is better.

🐍 Today’s Inspection: Late Summer & Fall Snake Activity

As temperatures begin to moderate, snake encounters can become a little more noticeable around Alabama homes and businesses.

Snakes often get a bad reputation, but they serve an important purpose in our environment—including helping control rodents and other pests. Seeing one, or finding a shed skin, also doesn’t necessarily mean you have a “snake infestation.”

That doesn’t mean we ignore them. Awareness is still important. Watch where you place your hands and feet, reduce heavy vegetation and clutter around structures, seal potential entry points, and address rodents or other food sources that may make the property attractive.

At Tactical, our approach isn’t simply “How do we get rid of the snake?” It’s “Why was it here, and what can we change to reduce future encounters?”

Because good pest management starts with understanding the environment.

🐍 Respect the wildlife. Reduce the risk. It takes a plan.™

TODAY’S INSPECTION

“Honey, Someone’s at the Door!” 🐝🚪

This home had been vacant for several months, and there’s an old truth in pest control—and nature in general:
If a space stays empty and undisturbed long enough, something will eventually decide to occupy it.

In this case, yellow jackets had established a nest inside the frame of the front door. Not beside the porch. Not somewhere out in the yard. Right where someone would naturally stand, reach for the handle, and walk into the home.

That’s why situational awareness matters, especially around homes that have been vacant or areas that haven't seen regular activity. Before opening doors, moving stored items, reaching into utility areas, or sticking your hands somewhere you can’t see—take a few seconds and look first.

Watch for insects entering and leaving a small opening, nesting material, webs, droppings, disturbed soil, or anything else suggesting that somebody moved in while you were gone.

Fortunately, this one had a happy ending. We identified the active entrance, made a targeted treatment, and by the following day the activity was eliminated.

Because good pest control isn't about spraying everything in sight.

It takes a plan. ⚔️

Tactical means targeted.

What can I say about this lady? Gloria (Grandmaw) was my mother in law for 31 years. She was my friend for a great many of them (not all mind you, but I grew on her ☺️).

From a business aspect, she was my CMO (Chief Motivational Officer)! From day one, she cheered me on. She would not let me quit, even though in the beginning, I really wanted to.
"This is crazy! I don't think this is smart, I just need to get a job" I'd say on more than one occasion.
"Now Ben, you get out there and get it done. If anyone can do it it's you!" She'd say in a hundred different ways. All the while reminding me by saying "don't worry about me" and go take care of my customers. 🥰

I would build her into my route to make sure she had what she needed and she would give me daily affirmations and tell me how good I looked in my uniform ☺️

When she moved in with us and even while she got weaker, she still encouraged me. I would come in every day and give her my daily out brief, telling her about new clients and interesting accounts I came across.

I will miss her terribly, but her encouragement will always be with me.

For those who knew about Gloria, thank you all for your support and kindness during these last few weeks. It means the world to me.

Please keep her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers over the next little bit.

Thank you!

Getting a lot of questions about earwigs lately! 👀

Despite the name, they're not trying to crawl into your ears 😆 — but all this rain, humidity, wet mulch, and moisture around AC units can make your property pretty inviting.

A little biology, a little myth-busting, and a few things you can do yourself. 👇

And yes... Beauregard is now apparently a certified Earwig Pointer. 🐶😂

PEST CONTROL ISN'T JUST ABOUT SPRAYING.

Sometimes it involves spraying.

Sometimes it's baiting, trapping, exclusion, sanitation, monitoring, removing a food or water source—or figuring out why the pest is there in the first place.

That's Integrated Pest Management, or IPM.

And despite how it may sound, IPM isn't an excuse to do less.

It's about doing what works.

A good pest management program starts with identifying the pest, understanding its biology and finding the conditions that are allowing it to thrive. Then we choose the right tools for that particular problem—and target them where they'll have the greatest impact.

Because treating everywhere isn't necessarily better than treating where it matters.

That might mean placing bait where insects are actually feeding instead of spraying every baseboard.

It might mean finding the opening mice are using instead of endlessly putting out traps.

It might mean correcting a moisture problem that's supporting flies instead of repeatedly treating the adults you're seeing.

And yes—sometimes it means making a pesticide application.

But when we do, there should be a reason for what we're using, where we're putting it, and what we're trying to accomplish.

That's the difference between simply applying products and actually managing pests.

At Tactical Pest Solutions, we believe pest control should be intentional.

Inspect first.
Identify the problem.
Choose the right tool.
Target the source.
Monitor the results.
Adjust when necessary.

More isn't better. Better is better.

Because your home or business doesn't need more pesticide.

It needs a plan.

🔎 TODAY'S INSPECTION: Who's Eating the Peanut Butter? 🥜

During an inspection, I found these single-serve peanut butter cups with something interesting going on.

Something had chewed its way into them.

Now, if you saw damaged food packaging with little dark droppings nearby, what's your first thought?

🐭 Mouse?

That would certainly be a reasonable suspect.

But here's where inspection matters.

The damage didn't look quite right for a mouse. And those little dark specks nearby? They weren't quite right either.

So... who's been eating the peanut butter?

🪳 Large cockroaches.

American and Smokybrown cockroaches have chewing mouthparts, and when there's food on the other side, they're capable of damaging thin packaging to get to it.

And no, before I accidentally terrify all of Calhoun County, this does NOT mean they're going to chew on you. 😂

The interesting part of today's inspection wasn't simply finding evidence of cockroaches. It was recognizing that the evidence wasn't telling the obvious story.

Pest problems don't always announce themselves with a bug sitting conveniently in the middle of the floor. Sometimes it's damaged packaging. Sometimes it's droppings. Sometimes it's a stain, a shed skin, or something that's just a little off.

That's why inspection matters.

Pests are successful because they're very good at living where we live while staying out of sight. The job isn't just knowing how to treat them.

It's knowing how to read what they leave behind.

On Today’s Episode of “Ben’s World”… 😂

Ben: “Hey, Universe! Good morning! Thanks for everything! Business is growing, life is good, and I appreciate all these great vibes you’ve been sending my way!”

Universe: “Yeah, nah. Quick question… you got a jack?”

😐

Flat tire. No big deal. I can change a tire.

Except apparently wheels nowadays come with a magic lug nut requiring a special key.

A key I did not know existed.

So I called roadside assistance and waited an hour.

Roadside Guy: “You got the wheel-lock key?”

Ben: “The what?”

Roadside Guy: “Little special socket. Usually in the glove box or with the jack.”

Ben: “…this thing?” 😐

Roadside Guy: “Yep.”

Ben: “So I’ve been sitting here for an hour?”

Roadside Guy: “Yep.”

Ben: “And I possessed the technology the entire time?”

Roadside Guy: “Yep.”

Universe: “Great vibes, though, right?” 😏

And thus begins a potential new series chronicling one small-business owner’s simple dream of providing quality pest control while being relentlessly assaulted by paperwork, flat tires, county licenses, technology, equipment, and whatever fresh nonsense Tuesday has prepared.

Ben’s World.

BRUH. I JUST WANNA KILL BUGS, MAN. 😂
