Goodmorning and Happy Sunday! We are heading into our Julys undercoating week. Monday the 20th- Friday the 24th. We are fully stocked with Fluid Film in both colors black + clear/amber and Woolwax in Black. ( we can order gray or straw/clear with advanced notice ) For the first time we are applying more Woolwax to vehicles than fluid film. Why ?
Fluid Film and Woolwax are both lanolin-based, non-toxic rust preventatives, but they differ primarily in thickness and durability. Fluid Film is thinner, allowing it to seep deep into crevices, while Woolwax is thicker, offering better resistance to water wash-off and longer protection on exposed undercarriages. Both products have there pros and cons to each individual application.
-Main Differences-
Consistency and Adhesion: Fluid Film is a thinner, fluid-like penetrant. Because it is lighter, it has an exceptional ability to "creep" into tight pinch welds, crevices, and inner door panels. Woolwax is significantly thicker and designed specifically for heavy-duty adhesion. It clings firmly to exposed frames and suspension components without washing off as easily in rain or snow.
Durability and Reapplication: Due to its thinner consistency, Fluid Film often requires annual reapplication. Woolwax tends to stay put longer, making it popular for two-year intervals, though heavy driving conditions may still necessitate yearly touch-ups on high-wear areas.
Scent: Fluid Film is notorious for its distinct, somewhat pungent earthy/sheep-like odor, which can linger for a few weeks after application. Woolwax is formulated to have virtually no scent or a milder, more pleasant smell.
