Ironhouse Sanitary District is proud to employ people who are dependable, dedicated, safety-conscious, solution-oriented, team-focused, and committed to the protection of our water resources.

District employee Dominick Gardiner exemplifies these qualities and was recently named Collection System Person of the Year by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA), an organization of more than 10,000 wastewater professionals empowered to protect the state's most critical resource: water.

Dominick was also recognized by CWEA for playing an integral role in maintaining the District's infrastructure, advancing innovation and efficiency, and demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting the public health of the communities Ironhouse serves.

Strong leadership helps ensure reliable public service.

It requires education, ethical leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Last week, Ironhouse Board President Angela Lowrey, Vice President Peter Zirkle, Director Dawn Morrow, and General Manager Jean-Marc Petit completed the California Special Districts Association Leadership Academy.

The program prepares special district leaders to make informed decisions, strengthen governance, and better serve their communities. Investing in leadership today helps us continue providing reliable wastewater service to the Oakley and Bethel Island communities for years to come.

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Ironhouse Sanitary District had the pleasure of participating in this year's Oakley Summer Fest. We had such a great time connecting with community members, teaching kids about the 3 Ps, and sharing the important work our team does every day. Stations 93 (on O'Hara Ave.) and 95 (on E.
Cypress Rd.) visited Ironhouse Sanitary District on Monday, June 22, 2026. They came to learn about the different buildings and areas that Ironhouse owns and operates, including the Water Recycle Facility
— our main treatment plant — the
administration building, the Collection Systems Operation Building, and all the gates and property layout. Their visit helps make sure our staff, our facilities, and our community stay safe — today and every day.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥? When fats, oils, and grease go down the drain, they may seem harmless-but over time they build up in pipes and can cause serious sewer issues.
Instead, bring it to Ironhouse's FOG (Fats, Oils & Grease) recycling program. We turn used cooking grease into biodiesel, a clean-burning, renewable fuel that helps protect our environment.
