Heads up, early birds: sunrise is now 6:52 AM, and your sprinklers don’t need to beat the sun. If you’re watering before then, you’re basically inviting trouble, wet grass sitting in the dark is a fungus buffet. Set your timer for after 7 AM and give the sun a chance to do its job first.

🌱 A quick tip for anyone watering new grass seed or established turf right now: stick to daylight hours.

Watering early morning through mid-afternoon gives the lawn time to dry before evening. That matters more than people think. Grass that stays wet overnight is far more prone to fungus and disease, and new seedlings sitting in cool, damp soil after dark are slower to establish and more likely to rot before they ever break the surface.

If you're trying to get seed to germinate, aim for light, frequent watering in the morning and early afternoon rather than one heavy soak at night. The goal is consistent moisture in the top inch of soil while the sun is still working with you, not against you.

Watering after dark feels convenient, but it's one of the easiest ways to slow germination and invite problems you don't need. Set the sprinklers for daylight and let the grass do the rest.

🌿 **Lawn Care Alert for This Week's Heat!**

With temperatures hitting 99° this week, your lawn needs a little extra love. Here are two things you can do right now to protect it:

🌱 **Raise your mow height to 3½ inches.** Taller grass shades the soil, keeps roots cooler, and holds moisture longer. Mowing too short during a heat wave stresses your turf and leaves it vulnerable to damage.

💧 **Water daily — but time it right.** Water during daylight hours so your lawn has time to absorb moisture before the heat of the day peaks. Avoid evening watering this week, as wet turf overnight can invite disease.

Your lawn is an investment — a few simple adjustments this week can mean the difference between a thriving yard and a stressed one. As always, we're here if you have questions! 💚

How's your lawn holding up in this heat? Drop a comment or give us a call — we're happy to help!

🌿 Lawn Care Reminder — Keep It Green This Summer!

With the heat ramping up, here are a few things you can do RIGHT NOW to protect your lawn:

✅ Mow high — raise your deck height and keep it there. A taller canopy shades the soil, retains moisture, and helps crowd out w**ds.

✅ Mow weekly — consistent mowing at the right height beats infrequent scalping every time.

✅ Water during daylight hours only — avoid evening watering, which promotes fungal disease. Water when the sun is up so your lawn dries before nightfall.

✅ Water the right amount — after mowing, you should see a small amount of clippings on the surface. That's your sign that your lawn is actively growing and properly hydrated. No clippings at all? You need to water more. Seeing a heavy layer of clippings? You may be overwatering. Leave clippings on the lawn — they break down quickly and return nutrients to the soil.

Your lawn is an investment — a little attention now goes a long way.

Heads up to anyone with boxwoods in their yard — the Boxtree Moth is here and it is no joke.

These caterpillars can strip a boxwood completely bare in as little as two weeks. And if your shrubs aren't being treated, they will die. It's that simple.

We've been seeing it firsthand this season and it's not pretty.

We put together a Boxwood Survival Program specifically for this — a custom spray treatment timed to the moth's cycle to protect your shrubs before the damage starts.

If you've got boxwoods and want to keep them, give us a call.

MOW WEEKLY. MOW AT 3.5”.

Not biweekly. Not 2.5”. Not “when it looks like it.”
Weekly mowing at 3.5” maximizes turf health, color, and resilience. Taller grass grows deeper roots — and deeper roots mean better drought resistance all summer long.

Simple change. Big difference.
