Another stain that we will cover but you might not have any problem with is Carbon Paper. It's not widely used today but we will still cover it.
* Blot with a dry cleaning fluid such as Carbona or Energine or Gum, Tar & Grease remover on a white towel. Do not pour directly on the carrots or you will destroy the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing together. Blot with a solution of 1 tsp, maximum, of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with a dry WHITE absorbent towel. NOTE: Some carbon paper inks are more readily removed with Alcohol than with dry cleaning fluid.
* If unsuccessful, call us 816-224-6776

The next problem we will cover is black Carbon/Fingerprint dust/dry photocopier toner/soot:
* It is EXTREMELY important that you NOT get this type of material wet initially! Vacuum thoroughly until you see no more then vacuum some more! Be sure to clean off the vacuum cleaner brush when done! Blot with a dry cleaning fluid such as Carbona or Energine or Gum, Tar & Grease remover on a white towel. Do not pour directly on the carpet or you will destroy the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing together. Blot with a solution of 1 teaspoon, maximum, of liquid HAND dish washing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white cloth. Blot dry with dry white paper towels.
* If unsuccessful, call us. 816-224-6776

This week we will cover three different stains since the remedies are short.
The first is browning or jute stain: a carpet or rig, particularly wool, will sometimes gain a brown tint on the tops of cleaned with an overly strong high ph detergent. This will sometimes occur particularly on wool if the carpet is left wet too long after cleaning, spill, flood, etc. Blot with a solution of 1 cup of WHITE vinegar per 2 cups of water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel.
The second is butter: scrape up residue. Blot with a dry cleaning fluid such as Carbona or Energine on a white towel. Do not pour directly on the carpet or you will destroy the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing. Blot with a solution of 1tsp (maximum)of liquid HAND dishwashing detergent per 1 cup of lukewarm water. Blot with a solution of 2Tbsp of household ammonia per cup of water. Blot with a solution of 1 cup of WHITE vinegar per 2 cups of water. Blot with lukewarm water with white paper towels.
The last one is calcium chloride or Ice Melt: if dry thoroughly vacuum first. If wet, Blot dry with a white absorbent towel. Blot with a solution of 1 cup of WHITE vinegar per 2 cups of water. Blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. Blot dry with white paper towels.
If you are unsuccessful on any of these call us at 816-224-6776.

In alphabetical order we are going through things that you might spill on your carpet. Over the past few weeks we have talked about acetone, acne medication, asphalt, ball point pen ink, beer and berry stain. This week is blood.
* blot dry with a dry white absorbent towel. Blot with a solution of 2 tablespoons of household ammonia per cup of water.
*If not fully removed apply household Hydrogen Peroxide(the 3% drugstore variety) to the stain and blot with lukewarm water with a white towel. NOTE: Sometimes the Hydrogen Peroxide will bleach out the carpet fibers. Apply a ½ inch layer of white(no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weigh down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day.
*We have a spotter called Formula 19 and usually will remove blood and other stains.

Next on our list is Berry stains:
*Blot dry with a dry white absorbent towel. If a large quantity has spilled apply a ½ inch layer of white(no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weigh down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day before attempting removal of stain. Blot with a solution of 1 teaspoon (maximum) of HAND dishwashing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with white paper towels. Blot with a solution of 2Tbsp of household ammonia per cup of water then blot with a solution of 1 cup of WHITE vinegar per 2 cups of water. Lastly, blot with lukewarm water with white paper towels. Apply a ½ inch layer of white (no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weigh down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day. AT YOUR OWN RISK, you can apply household peroxide to the stain and allow to dry overnight- this may bleach out the carpet so be careful!
*Juice and Dye Stain Remover is specially designed for removing juice stains by the consumer.
*If unsuccessful, call us at 816-224‐6776
You will notice the majority of these stains are treated the same way but not all, so that is why I post all directions on every one in the order they are to be used.

Next on our list is Asphalt. If not removed quickly yellowing from asphalt off parking lots and driveways is nearly impossible to completely remove without delaminating the carpet. This yellowing is particularly obvious with blue and gray carpet.
For small areas blot with a non-flammable dry cleaning fluid such as Carbona or Energine or Gum, Tar and Grease remover on a white towel. Do not pour directly on the carpet or you will destroy the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing together.
Blot with a solution of 1tsp(maximum) of liquid HAND dishwashing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Blot with lukewarm water with white paper towels. Apply a ½ inch layer of white(no printing) paper towels to the affected area and weigh down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day.

The second on our list of spots is acne medication. Most acne medications (and many others) contain Benzoyl Peroxide which gradually forms Hydrogen Peroxide and can eventually leave bleach spots on your carpet. First wipe medication then pour a non-flammable dry cleaning fluid such as Carbona or Energine(that you can get at a drug store) on a clean white towel and wipe or blot the spot. Do not pour directly on the carpet or you risk destroying the latex glue holding the primary and secondary backing together.
Then blot with a solution of 1tsp(maximum) of liquid HAND dishwashing detergent per cup of lukewarm water. Next blot with a solution of 2Tbsp of household ammonia per cup of water, lastly blot with a solution of 1 cup of white vinegar per 2 cups of water. Blot with lukewarm water with white paper towels. Blot dry with paper towels. If there is any bleached out area it may need to be re-dyed. If you have any questions PM us or just comment down below and we will address those.
Next up: Asphalt/Driveway sealer/ parking lot sealer/creosote.

Following up on my last post, first on our list of spots and what to do about them is Acetone.
Acetone is the primary ingredient in many non-oily fingernail polishes and removers. It evaporates very rapidly and is highly flammable. Acetone dissolves acetate fibers. First blot the spill with white paper towels then thoroughly saturate spot with a solution of 1 teaspoon (maximum) of liquid hand dishwashing detergent(do not use grease cutting detergents)per cup of lukewarm water. Then blot and keep blotting with dry paper towels.
Because acetone is such a strong solvent, if it penetrates into the backing of the carpet the carpet may buckle up and come unglued. A professional may be required to re-glue the carpet or replace the damaged area, so treat it quickly.
If anyone has questions about any spots then comment or private message us and we will address those. Otherwise we will continue addressing spots in an alphabetical order.
Next up: acne medicine

Over the past 30 years being in business we have had customers call in with concerns about different things they have spilled on their carpets. I thought it might be helpful to address these questions over the next several weeks.
Now we do sell a general spotter, Formula 19, that treats all types of spots other than pet spots. We also have a pet spot and odor treatment, Pup-pee-luv, that takes care of animal urine and f***s spots. With that being said, I want to let you know what things you might already have on your shelves that you can treat different spots with.
Over the next several weeks I will take one type of spot and tell you how to treat it and what to treat it with. I will also tell you if and when you will need to call a professional to take care of said spot. It is our hope that we can help you save your carpet and furniture and that when you do want to clean and sanitize your carpet that you will give us a call. Stay tuned.
