FALL CLEANING CHECKLIST

Regardless of the company and services offered, thorough cleaning is an essential aspect of any maintenance routine. To ensure your business maintains its appearance during this season, follow these autumn cleaning suggestions provided by the professionals at Gateway, a company specializing in commercial and floor care.

Include this fall clean-up checklist in your regular routine to uphold a superior level of cleanliness in your building.

FLOORS
If you have hard-surface flooring, you may need to mop or polish it. For businesses with carpets or area rugs, it is recommended to have them professionally cleaned in the autumn to eliminate stains, dirt, dust, and other debris.

FIXTURES
When dusting, remember to also clean objects positioned higher than eye level, such as fans, lights, and other fixtures that may be overlooked in a typical cleaning routine.

SANITIZE AREAS
During cold and flu season, it is crucial for your company, particularly in an office environment, to disinfect surfaces such as tables, doorknobs, and reception desks in the lobby.

RESTROOMS
Clean, sanitize, and disinfect high-touch areas in the bathroom such as toilets, sinks, soap dispensers, and doors as required.

”5 Steps to follow when hiring a commercial cleaning company ”

Hire an experienced cleaning company to clean your office.
Maintaining a clean and sanitary office environment is essential to the success of your business. Most companies will hire a professional cleaning service to take care of this rather than hiring a full-time janitor. A cleaning service will usually come in after hours, cleaning all areas of your office. You'll probably find several office cleaning companies in your city, so you'll have to choose the one that's right for you. Though you may be looking to save money, the company with the lowest cost isn't always the best deal.

•Step 1
Get price quotes from the companies in your area. The companies will have to visit your officeto estimate the work. When you get this quote, ask for a list of services that they provide. Most will provide mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and sanitizing of the bathroom and dusting. Some may provide carpet cleaning a few times a year, but it may or may not be included in the quoted price.

•Step 2
Ask to see proof of insurance. You want a cleaning company that has its insurance so that you can be sure that you will not be liable should a cleaner become hurt while cleaning.

•Step 3
Read through the contract. Most companies will want you to sign a contract, locking you into their service for a given amount of time. However, you need recourse if you aren't happy with the service that the company is providing. For example, you may want to look for a company that has a trial period or one that goes on a month-to-month contract rather than a yearly contract.

•Step 4
Consider the experience of the company. Some companies will have years of experience behind them, which means that you can be sure that they've developed a system for cleaning and are comfortable handling any cleaning issues involved. All other things being equal, choose the company with more experience.

•Step 5
Get references from the company. A quality company will be able to provide you with references from its clients. Contact these references and ask how happy they are with the cleaning services that the company provides.

“PICKING THE RIGHT COMMERCIAL CLEANING COMPANY”

A messy office can kill deals and make it hard to operate on a daily basis, which is why many businesses rely on professional commercial cleaning company to help clean. Unfortunately, choosing the right team of cleaning professionals can be a daunting task.

Here are three tips for picking the right janitorial service for your office, and why doing your research will pay off in the end:

•EVALUATE YOUR BUDGET

Most janitorial services charge based on what you need to have done and how large your space is, which is why you should think carefully about how much you have to spend on cleaning before you start gathering quotes. Think about how much time and money you currently spend on cleaning, and don’t forget to factor in things like equipment replacement, employee labor, and cleaning supplies. Also, think about how frequently you would want the space to be professionally cleaned, and how janitorial service would impact your ability to attract new clients.

•THINK ABOUT YOUR NEEDS

Next, think about what you would want professional cleaners to tackle once they are in your office. Do you need to have the public bathrooms carefully detailed, the windows cleaned, and the floors mopped? Would you need janitors to take out the garbage and tidy up the break room every day? By evaluating what you would need to have done, you can provide experts with the information they need to give you an accurate price quote.

•CONSIDER CLIENT REVIEWS

After you know what you need to have done, look for janitorial services based on their reputation in your community. Carefully read through previous client reviews, and look for unbiased comments online from verified users. Pay attention to whether other businesses in your area are using the service, and how clean their space feels inside.

Are you ready to get a little help with your office? The professionals at Gateway Janitorial Services are focused on cleaning efficiently and economically, providing business owners throughout the St Louis and surrounding areas with reliable janitorial services. In addition to offering floor maintenance and heat extraction carpet cleaning, these experienced professional cleaners can help with dusting, sanitizing, and polishing. 7 Tips to Keeping your Office Clean:

They say a cluttered desk betrays a cluttered mind. Who knows what a dirty desk betrays.

When you’re constantly on the go at work, it’s not always easy to keep things neat and clean — especially if you don’t have the right cleaning supplies. Thankfully, there’s more than one way to clean up a mess.

Here is a list of seven critical areas to consider, and tips that will make it easier for you to maintain a clean office and get back to getting your job done:

1. Keyboards, Calculators and Telephone Keypads
Ah, keyboards — the couch cushions of the workplace! Who knows what lies in their nooks and crannies? If you have one of those air dusters to spray the various debris loose with, you’re all set. But what if you don’t?

Try that hair dryer you’ve got jammed in your gym bag — just be sure to use the cool setting. For more stubborn debris, grab some cotton swabs to get beneath, between and behind the keys to keep them free from dust and muffin crumbs.

2. Monitors, Screens, Displays and Devices
It’s important to keep your computer and monitor free of dust. For screen cleaning, turn off the machine and wipe down the screen with a damp microfiber cloth. You can also use wipes specifically made for display screens.

You may think your favorite antibacterial wipe is up to the task, but you’d be wrong. Avoid using cleaners that contain alcohol or acetone because they take off the screen’s protective coating.

Spray a little warm water on a soft paper towel and wipe away the fingerprints, French fry grease and whatever else is smudging up your view.

3. Desks, Work Tables & Counters
Antibacterial or disinfecting wipes are the super heroes of surface cleaning, willing to take on spills and messes with ease. But what if your supply is exhausted?

Technically, baby wipes are for babies. And, if you’ve ever been around a baby, you know that these wipes have some heavy lifting to do to keep that delightful new-baby smell! Keep a packet at your desk and use them to keep your work surface crumb free. Swipe one over your mouse and mouse pad, wipe down your desk phone, and have a packet in your drawer in case there’s a coffee spill. You can even use them to clean your hands before sending a text or typing that document. Nothing’s worse than a sticky keyboard!

4. The Coffeemaker
The caffeine filling station provides an essential respite from the clickety-clackety of your cube farm. If your office manager is a rock star, or a neat freak, you probably have some special supplies for cleaning the coffee maker. Otherwise, you’ll need to find an alternative to avoid disgusting coffee that might lead to revolt.

Take powdered dishwasher detergent, shake it into the bottom of a cool coffee pot and fill with hot water. Let it sit for an hour and it should be as good as new — no scrubbing, no boiling, no replacement.

5. The Microwave
When something explodes in the microwave, a few paper towels usually clean up the mess . . . but it won’t dispel the smell.

Invest in a small vial of lemon or orange essential oil and dilute a few drops in a small spray bottle of water. When the next Vesuvius erupts, spray the entire interior with the scented oil and place a wet sponge in the center. Nuke it for two minutes to dissipate the smell. Let the sponge cool and then use it to clean up the gunk, then place it in the dishwasher to fight another day.

6. Trash cans
In an ideal world, all the gross stuff that goes in the trash wouldn’t be deposited till the end of the day, when you can swan out to your car or the train and let someone else deal with it. However, if you’re the one stuck emptying the trash, there is trick to keep the stink away.

After emptying the trash can, take it outside and sq**rt dishwashing detergent inside the can and let the power of your hose provide the elbow grease. Allow the can to air dry before replacing the trash bag. Add a new dryer sheet to the bottom to help limit odors.

7. Permanent markers
Even though you’ve never done it, someone’s always using a permanent marker on the conference room whiteboard. And there never seems to be any actual cleaner in the little spray bottle next to the board, does there?

Forget the fancy solvents. Cover the permanent marker mark with dry erase marker and wipe away.

With these tips — and a little bit of elbow grease — you’ll be able to maintain a clean office without having to somehow squeeze a trip to the store in the middle of wall-to-wall meetings.
